The website was text-based, with lots of hpyerlinked titles that clicked-through to the essays. The author had a biography page that was a big picture of his face that had been heavily filtered and a brief paragraph explaining that he (maybe?) used to live in Ireland, and now resides in America. His essays covered topics from film reviews - The Matrix is one I remember specifically - an addiction to on of the Civilization PC games, an addiction to nasal sprays that was overcome by going cold turkey for three days, internet trolls, and common logical fallacies. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Allergy filter: I have year-round allergies. Loratadine works wonders for me, but I develop an immunity in about a month or so. Which other non-drowsy antihistamines would you recommend? [more inside]

I've actually had this problem for awhile. I usually wake up in the mornings with congestion mostly a lot of phlegm. I have to clear my throat numerous times, blow my nose, etc. The phlegm is clear, no discoloration. Clogs most in my throat so I almost have to make a hacking sound to bring up the phlegm. How long does it take for dried nasal mucus (i.e. boogers) to disintegrate? I mean, to where the untrained human eye would not know that the dried nasal mucus (i.e. boogers) were ever there. Um, asking for a friend.

In his recent kids-these-days piece,
Clark Whelton says "Even nasal passages are affected by fashion. Quack-talking, the rasping tones preferred by many young women today, used to be considered a misfortune." Do you get what he's talking about, and can you point me to an audio example?

Through surgery, I regained my full sense of smell today. I haven't smelled clearly since 2006.
I live in Washington, DC. It's brisk Fall. Feeling 100%. What should I go smell this week?

Can someone with access to the medical research literature tell me if there is enough evidence to warrant taking the red light led photo therapy nasal devices for the relief of hayfever seriously? I suspect it is quackery but am curious if there is any credible research out there. Anecdotes abound but I'd like to hear about some scientific data. [more inside]

I have a podcast. Sometimes my voice is really nasally. Can I fix this physically or inside an audio editor? I guess what I’m asking is how do I develop a radio/podcast/speaking voice? (Hopefully without paying through the nose.)

I don't think this is, strictly speaking, supposed to happen: meat often comes out of my head when I'm sick. Why? What does it portend? [Warning: so gross.] [more inside]

Help me breathe! The older I get, the more sinus trouble I have. Almost every morning I wake up with a semi-headache because one of my nasal passages is entirely blocked. This isn't a seasonal thing, nor does it seem to be allergy-related. During the day it clears up, but at night, I must depend upon nasal spray (the kind you're not supposed to use too consistently). Should I take the plunge and go see a doctor? Or is there some miracle drug I can get over the counter?

Help me stop the morning snots.
Invariably, every morning my sinuses go into overdrive about 5-10 minutes after I wake up. My nose gets completely congested and I'll have to honk wads of clear mucous into several tissues to clear it out.

My voice has a nasal sound to it - not high-pitched-nasal, more like it sounds like I have a perpetually stuffy nose. Anything I can work on to change that, or am I stuck?
