Changing your name...some of the time?

I'm getting married, and am considering what to do about changing my name. My finance and I both like the idea of changing my name, both for personal and practical reason -- we are both sort of traditional when it comes to things like this, both like the idea of both having the same name as our kids, our names sound awful hyphenated, etc. That said, I worry about this professionally. Weddings and name changes

Did anyone here keep their last name (female I should add) after getting married? Did your partner have a huge issue with it? Why would you want to change your name? What about the potential children? I'm having a heated debate with a friend.
