I'm looking for nail polishes which have a completely or nearly transparent base and colored shimmer. I have found very few examples of this type of polish - the only ones I know of/own are e.l.f. Big Bang Blue (no longer being made), which is a totally clear base and mostly blue shimmer, with little flecks of pink/purple in there too - and Sinful Colors Just You Wait, which is a very sheer pink (almost invisible on the nail) with green shimmer. I like to indulge my inner 11-year-old by painting my toenails with sparkly polish. I recently discovered KBShimmer, which has the best, sparkliest sparkly nail polish I have ever encountered. It's making me wonder: what other indie nail polish companies are currently producing good stuff that will satisfy my need for age-inappropriate nail decoration? [more inside]
Are there any indoor public places where it would be acceptable to paint my nails? [more inside]
I'm looking for blogs or youtube channels that feature nail designs in the intermediate skill level range. On a scale of 1 to 10 I am looking for 5-6. [more inside]
This morning in trying to get rid of incredibly stubborn glitter nail polish in a hurry I soaked my fingers on one hand in nail polish remover until they were wrinkled. I realized they were wrinkled because they had absorbed a great deal of pure alcohol. "Oh jeez, not very bright," I thought. Now my stomach feels a little acid-y, which is constantly reminding me. So I guess what I'm curious about is exactly how stupid this was, on a scale from 1 (harmlessly stupid) to 10 (Darwin award). [more inside]
So the current nail tech FPP on the blue, and my comment inside have me wondering what other tips and tricks there are for at home hand care. [more inside]

My suitcase has logos on it. They're small, but I'd like to obscure them to lower my likelihood of being victimized. Examples are here. It looks like there's a small dollop of clear, rubbery, plastic that covers them - to protect logo. I was thinking of buying some black nail polish, and painting over them. Nail polish is supposed to be durable right? However, I've never had to buy nail polish before. Questions: 1. Is nail polish the right product for this? 2. Which brand / type should I get? Are there ones that are more durable than others?
I have been biting my fingernails for 30 years. I’ve stopped for short periods of time (a week or two) over the last 10 years but its never stuck. I’m 30 days into not biting them right now, and I’m thinking this could be the “last” time I quit. I have a few questions about the end of nail-biting and about general fingernail-related things that I guess I never figured out when I was an adolescent and didn’t have any. [more inside]
I accidentally washed a bottle of hot pink nail polish with a load of laundry. There are now streaks and splotches of hot pink nail polish covering all of the clothes in that load, plus the interior of the dryer. HELP. How can I fix this? Are all my clothes ruined (they are all dry at this point)? Can I get it off the inside of the dryer? [more inside]

I found out at the post office today that it is no longer possible to ship nail varnish or perfume (containing alcohol) from the UK to overseas. What are the rules the other way around? I asked at the counter but the lady selling me my stamp didn't seem to be sure. [more inside]
I like to paint my nails occasionally, but I get frustrated to go to all of the trouble of applying polish (and drying and drying) only to have the nail polish chip within a day or so (or even sooner). What can I do to help my nail polish last longer? [more inside]

Black tie wedding tomorrow. Thanks to my last AskMeFi, now have (rented) long black dress, silver open toe sandals, black seqin wrap, glittery silver necklace and bracelet, and handsome Bear husband escort in appropriate (rented) tuxedo . . . and only now I realize I'd better get a pedicure. But I have no idea what color my toes should be. So, toe-nail-polish-wearing hivemind, can you please tell me what color polish I should get for this outfit?
