MysqlFilter: I need someone with mighty mysql-Fu to help me out here.
I have a list of items stored in my database (60 or so per user), they get sent to the flash application that I have, then once the user is done with everything, they press "save" (20 to 60 times a day), and it saves the list of items back to the database. I was doing an insert on duplicate update, but this doesnt get rid of the items that may have been deleted.

I'm working on a website for my band, and I would like to have a section on the main page which lists news items. I don't want to have to edit the html file every time I want to add an update though. I'd like it to run from a database or something, so can I set something up to display the 5 most recent database entries on my website?

I run a fairly large Guild Wars fansite, using MediaWiki. Lately we've been having some database problems. Basically, mysql refuses to stay running for more than 10 seconds at a time, and occasionally complains of an InnoDB error, then exits with a signal 11. I've shut it down, run myisamchk, repaired, restarted, but it keeps coming back. Anyone care to lend a hand? After the repair, myisamchk doesn't show any errors on the table, or any others, but it always crops back up.
We've tried everything from replacing the RAM in the machine, to completely rebuilding mySQL. Help! (last lines of mysql error log inside)

MySQL Hell: I've spent most of my vacation trying to figure out why MySQL has gone nuts. It's part of a Movable Type install with tons of posts, comments, and log entries, and it's always run smoothly before. The problem is that it'll bomb on random queries, seemingly every minute or two, since status queries always show uptime in tens of seconds. Repairing the larger tables and restarting the server has done nothing, and no major changes have been made. What's wrong? Is this a *nix issue, a MySQL issue, or an MT issue? And how do I go about telling the difference, or fixing any of them?

I want to learn PHP and MySQL. I just installed both onto my Mac OS 10.4.2 machine to serve as a sort of testing ground. I also downloaded CocoaMySQL. It's asking for a host, user and password. I assume the host is localhost. However, I can't figure out how to create a user. Can anybody help with that? Also, what would you recommend as the best learning resources for somebody who can get around HTML and CSS, but has very little programming experience?

I have a MySQL database that contains two fields - name and e-mail - for a bunch of records. Separately I have a FileMaker 7 database that contains the same fields - name and e-mail -
and contains other fields, like "notes".
My question: can the FileMaker database, after polling the MySQL database, show name and e-mail as read-only; and then show the other fields as editable? i.e. if I make a change to the MySQL database, can I get it to show up in FM?

I want to install phpBB on my website, but I have a basic question to which I haven't been able to find the answer yet. If I am using a MySQL database behind MT for my weblog, can I install phpBB on the same database and assume it will just build additional tables in MySQL? Or does it require a completely separate database that would be addressed differently?

I am responsible for setting up and maintaining a mail server for small web-hosting type business. We currently host about 75 domains, around 100 mailboxes and due to the efforts of our sales team, we are wanting to get ready for some great increases in those numbers. I am worried about my current configuration and ease of administration. More importantly (well, at least to the customers) is email deliverability -- it seems that messages delivered to some big players are being marked as SPAM or disappearing altogether. I am asking for insight and advice on 1) if my current choice of software/configuration is a good match for this situation and 2) if there any additional measures I might take to ensure email deliverability?
