What's the music used as the theme for Law and Order on five in the UK? It's also used in a trailer for one of the Matrix sequels - here [WMV], music from 1:41 — 2:14.
How does one go about getting a career in movie soundtracks? [more inside]
I once heard a radio program (probably on NPR or the BBC) about the song "Willow Weep for Me." They claimed it was an extraordinary song for two reasons: it was written by a woman (rare in 1932) and there was striking tempo change in the middle of the song. However, in most recordings, the musicians skip the tempo change. But on the show I listened to, they played a rare recoding that featured the change. I want that recording. [more inside]
Long ago I heard a live version of Ween's "Tender Situation" that sounded sweeter, or more straightforward, than it is presented on Pure Guava or any of the live albums. What bootleg was that from? [more inside]

Where can I buy/download the boardroom background music from NBC's The Apprentice? Thanks.
This American Life has at least a dozen instrumentals that they use over and over as background music. The Happy Flute Song, the Things Are Kind of Tense Song, and so on. I've really grown to like many of them, but I cannot identify any of them. Can TAL fans identify any of the standard music beds?
Has anyone heard of a band or singer called something like "Sondra Leche"? [more inside]
I have, over the past several years, become the individual that lots of people come to for music suggestions and to talk about music (most metal, but some other stuff). Much like the fine folks at Pandora. So I had the great thought of starting a podcast. However: Mayhaps I'm missing something, but I can't find anything online that spells out how to start a music podcast legally. (More after the jump) [more inside]

A friend of mine and I vividly remember a slightly cheesy, late 80s song that had a chorus along the lines of "Please tell them not to cry for me, it's a personal decision...(insert forgotten words here)...I'm just an old man dying to be free." Is this ringing any bells with anyone? We are both perplexed and any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I bought an Alesis MultiMix 8 the other day, which is an 8 input firewire interface. It works OK but the main problem I have is that the stereo out (from the computer to the mixer) cuts out very frequently. [more inside]

AgingBritishRockStarFilter: This is both incredibly random, and a longshot, but does anyone have any recent experience of meeting The Who on their present tour? If so, how did you manage this? Or are they fairly isolated from the likes of me (obsessive Who fanboys)? I'm going to my first show tomorrow night, and it would be a dream come true to talk to the boys, if only briefly behind the arena.
If I'm listening to music predominantly through one ear I get a really intense pain in the opposite ear after about thirty seconds. What's happening? [more inside]
I'm 24 and work in sales. I have a huge passion for indie music. I have never been sure what I wanted to do but I think (on paper) I have found a vocation I can really love. How do I best break into new music plugging in London? Also how awfully paid is it? Money is a motivator for me but more than anything I want to enjoy what I do. [more inside]
Help me construct the ultimate poor man's Ipod boombox. I have a Sonic Impact T-Amp and 2 Infinity bookshelf speakers. I would like to be able to carry all 3 as a connected unit (Amp velcroed to the top of a speaker, speakers somehow connected together) but separate the speakers when needed. What's a good way to connect the speakers together without damaging them? I'd like to keep it as light weight as possible. Seems like Velcro might be too weak?
I'm DJing a rave in a month or so, and the crowd I'll be playing to is much more of a gamer crowd than the average rave-going-crowd is. I'm going to throw in some game music remixes at some point, and I thought I'd ask for suggestions. [more inside]

Do you know the name of this song and the artist? It's a female singer. The only way that I can think of to describe the style is French or Brazilian jazz. "Iowa, It's a Beautiful Name" by (I think) Meredith Wilson. Does anybody know the lyrics or a songbook that contains it? It was published around the time of WWII. Thank You.
