Remember Cher's "Believe" from a few years ago ("Do you believe in life after love?") I heard an ironic, great version of it on the radio yesterday. I couldn't find it in the station playlists. It has a male vocalist and uses the same vocodor distortion effect on the chorus as the Cher version. Who is it? (PS, it isn't The Luxury Liners.)
i photographed a high school girls' sports team all season. putting together a slideshow DVD of the best images for the girls to have. what music should accompany the slideshow? i want the girls to like the music but i have a feeling my musical taste (mostly indie rock/folk/singer-songwriter stuff) wont be a hit with them. i'm a bit of a music snob so any suggestions that would please the girls but also allow me to keep my musical integrity intact would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for sites related to American popular culture from the early 20th century: books, films, radio, magazines, music, dance, comic strips, celebrities — you name it. I'm particularly interested on the period between the wars, but open to great stuff from before (and during) World War I, as well. Little Nemo, Keystone Kops, the Lindy Hop, Enrico Caruso, Fatty Arbuckle, Al Jolson, Clara Bow, Flash Gordon, Alice blue, Teddy bears, etc. These are all the sorts of things I'm after, especially as they're represented on the web. Bonus points for sites with RSS feeds. [more inside]

Winamp playlist help. I have a bunch of playlists in Winamp, but frequent re-organization of my music directory has broken all the links. Is there a way for Winamp to find the new locations of the files so I don't have to re-assign hundreds of songs, or, barring that, is there a smarter music library program that will do the work and can import Winamp playlists?
Name that (commercial) tune! Ask.com is currently running a television ad that features no spoken script. When I was a kid--reference point: I was born in 1980--there was a singer named "Paulo" (or at least that's what I remember him being called) and he sang songs about Alberta and its history. He had songs about the Frank Slide, the big fire in Calgary, how Alberta got it's name, stuff like that. From the eons old dubbed tape my parents had his album was aptly named "Alberta Songs"...does anyone recognize this guy? Can you tell me where--if it's possible--to purchase this album? I would love to have a real copy of it now.
