How can I snag the Afghan Whigs setlist from an upcoming show?

This is for a birthday gift and I'm really pining for it. The obvious answer would be to grab it at the show, but this is their first album in 16 years and at a small venue, it's sure to be a sold out show. My chances of actually grabbing it in a crowd of people is minimal (plus, what about security?). I'm wondering if it's too much to ask if someone backstage can grab it, but that would involve calling the venue's box office and asking a favor which I'm not sure would work. I thought of sending a letter with a self-addressed stamped envelope to their fan site but I realize those letters probably never reach the band. Has anyone successfully done this, or have any ideas that might work? [more inside]

Help me learn to get the most out of ReverbNation and its moods

Why would our Reverb Nation ranking drop a very lot in a very short amount of time? How does it work in general? What can I use to ensure our ranking best reflects our fan count or fan base on other sites - That's sort of the purpose of the band equity, I think, which - could someone explain it to me? What does it value? [more inside]

Techie Birthday Present

My wife's birthday is coming up in early September and I need help finding a birthday present Fast as I'm going to be tied up the next couple weeks. She likes "toys" like remote control cars, helicopters, preferably that she can build herself. I got her a helicopter last year and a remote controlled car kit already so those ideas are out. She has a basic arduino kit and is always looking for a new project. She also likes cool gadgets for cooking, grilling. And she's into all kinds of music. She has an iPod, iPad, a Mac, a PC (several, actually). I'd like to keep it under $150 if possible. Your ideas would be most appreciated!

Anyone recorded an album with venture capital? Please tell me all!

I'm in a band, and we're being courted by a fairly senior guy in the music industry. He's suggesting that rather than signing ourselves away to a major, we fund the first 18 months (so album recording, tour, publicity etc) we get funding from venture capitalists. Does anyone have any experience with this, or have any links for further reading on this? The music industry can be an unforgiving environment, and I want to know as much as possible independently to our potential manager...

How serious is copyright infringement for a government job? Polygraph test is likely for this job, as it would come with a Top Secret clearance. Music brings out emotions in me, I need to disassociate these emotions

Certain songs bring out memories for me and that's normal. But sometimes, I hear a song that I listened to during a particularly bad time in my life and I'm afraid that I will re-live that time, or even more stupidly, that I will re-experience it. How do I stop doing this to myself? There's some great music out there that I'm withholding myself from. [more inside]

Offer music at a wake?

I've recently learned that someone I used to know from when we were both much younger, has died. I knew him only in the context of church and we'd pal around on those Sundays, but we hadn't spoken in years. It's been suggested to me, by my parents, who still attend the church (I don't), that I might play some music at the wake, since I'm a violinist. But it seems to me this might be inappropriate for a few reasons. [more inside]
