What movies are like "The Blues Brothers" and "O Brother Where Art Thou" in that they have music, but not in the "show tunes" style of most musicals?

Can you name any songs or movies which feature palindromic structures? In terms of music, I don't mean notes or lyrics, but the sections, eg, CVCBCVC. Movie patterns would be more loose, but one could be settings, eg, starts out in a house, then a car, then a plane, etc, ends in a car, then a house. Another pattern could be the entrance/exit of characters.

Can you recommend movie scores that sound like the OST for
Brick? Organic and evocative, particularly like the last 5-10 seconds of that trailer. Almost like music that's been made without using traditional musical instruments. Words like jangly or handmade come to mind. Thanks!

The 2010 French movie "
Point Blank" -- who is singing over the credits at the end of the movie? She is great, the band is great, it's a hot song, but I saw no mention of the song/band/singer as the credits rolled, and I cannot find reference to this anywhere online, aside from other people wondering who is singing also.

A friend of mine is being driven crazy by a half-memory of a horror movie or TV show that had the song "Downtown" (Petula Clark's version) in a pivotal scene in it. Does anyone remember this? Not Little Shop of Horrors, though.

Weird movie memory filter: I feel like it was a Disney Channel movie. The premise was a 14ish year old girl wanting to be in a boy's band, so she ended up dressing like a boy and they let her in the band. She was also in an all girl band and it happened that they had to perform on the same day. Chaos ensues, and she is found out in the end... Any help is great.

In the movie "Topsy-Turvy,"
what is the sprightly march-like music that leads into the oyster lunch scene?
I can't get it out of my head; it's been my earworm since February.
I posted this question on the IMDb message boards, with no results.

I'm trying to remember a cheesy sci fi flick from...the 80's maybe. I can't remember much except there was something about a spaceship that crashlanded somewhere, and there was a "sci fi babe" on board...there was probably some sort of talking robot too. The most memorable thing about the movie was that the music was (stolen) from the movie Somewhere in Time was used...or at least something similar. Can anyone help me identify this movie?

What's the music in the (International #1) trailer for
The World's Fastest Indian? It's the guitar riff that begins right after the line, "It's what we're here for"--cut to a shot of a red vehicle speeding down the Bonneville Salt Flat. It's used again after the zoom-in on Anthony Hopkins and the VO, "Burt Monro's not ready to finish yet, I'll tell you that mate." Quicktime:
small,
large.

I just heard an audio sample from a movie where one person is trying to get another to keep his albums in order. It was along the lines of "put the ____ in the ____ section and put the Rock in the Rock section, you wouldn't put Charlie Parker in the Rock section would you?" To which the reply is "I dunno." Where is this from?

Hip Hop song identification needed. Help me identify a hip hop song from the movie Be Cool. When Vince Vaughn is riding in the back of his car, and The Rock is driving, there is a hip hop song playing. The only lyrics you can hear are "walla walla walla bang bang. walla walla bang bang". Who is that? Hint: It's not that Witch Doctor song for kids, in case you were gonna be funny ;)
ps: It's about 46:30 into the movie if you happen to have it on DVD.
