Small Production Office Needs a File Server

I work in a very small office, less than 10 people, that is mac based doing primarily Final Cut Pro editing. I know a lot about the mac but not much about putting a server together. Here are our needs: - We will continue to work on independent systems but would like the ability to keep some files centrally located. These files will be copied to the seperate workstations as needed.
- a fast transfer protocol. Currently we are using ethernet which is not fast or efficient enough to tranfer large video files.
- We'd love the ability to harnass the prossecor power of all the computers for rendering, particularly with renders and encodes. (Is a render farm even possible using Final Cut? And how would you do it? I know this is a seperate issue from the files sharing above but we'd like to accomplish both tasks.)
- No one is particularly UNIX savy so if actual server software is avoidable all the better. But certainly not a deal breaker.

So to reiterate: our two primary goals are the ability to make quick transfers between machines and two, a way to harnass the processor power during renders and encodes.

grab keys

I dropped my keys down the elevator in my apartment building. Is there any way I can retrieve them? I was carrying an armful of laundry down to the basement, and dropped my keys. They fell down the elevator shaft. I'm on the second floor. They fell down past the first floor, to the basement (laundry level). From the basement, I can see the "bottom" of the elevator shaft - about 4.

Is there any way I can retrieve them with some magnetic pole/magnet on a stick device?

I do have copies, but lost like, my "member pass" keychain things, as well as keys when I visit family (which can be remade). This is more of a convenience factor, than dire necessity.

But seriously... has anyone had any luck with this? What kind of magnetic pole devices can I poke down into the 2.5-3" crevice?

Low-Riders and My Sanity - Am Losing My MIND!

Would you go crazy if you were living in the boonies and every couple of minutes some dude comes careening around your corner on an ATV or motorcycle revving up slowly and maliciously? Just wondering if it's only me that's reacting like hot coals are being poured down my brain neurons. What would you do? What are my options? I live in the wild-wild-wild east and there's no *law* that anyone will be upholding soon. They're kids with wheels and noise and they've found that it's better than drugs. I've got music - loud to drown it out - got ear plugs - what else am I missing here? Is there anything I can do to deter these freaks?

Is there a place on the internets that I can get an idea of what my records are worth. I have a large collection of vinyl I am thinking of selling. Many are obscure new wave stuff from the 70's and eighties. I am looking for a site or two I can use to get an idea of what they are worth individually.
I have some tasty CDs as well
Gotta a suggestion?

What can I do with lots of ginger? I've got pounds of fresh ginger that has to get used pretty quick. What can I make with it? Bonus points if I don't have to peel it.
