How do I convert from cassette tape to CD (or mp3)?

For a memorial service on Saturday, I need to convert audio from cassette tape to CD. I'm fairly geeky, and used to rip vinyl to mp3, but that was five years ago. I have several modern Macs and a Windows Vista machine at my disposal. I have a standard mid-1990s component stereo system with tape deck and/or an old portable cassette player. Assorted cables. An 8-10 year old copy of CoolEdit somewhere. What's the easiest way for me to get from cassette to CD? I have plenty of money to throw at the problem, so that's not an issue. Time is the issue. (Which means that I'd rather download software than go out and buy it at Fry's.)

What are the most effective methods for acquiring music under Windows?

My sister-in-law has purchased a Creative Labs Zen Touch 40gb music player. She'd like advice on how to fill it with music. I'm a Mac user who uses iTunes and an iPod, so I don't really have a good answer for her. Can you help? [more inside]

Search for mp3 on Google

My google-fu has left me.

Once, long ago, I found a web page (a weblog entry?) that described how one might search for mp3s (or other media files) via google, by asking google to reveal all mp3 files hosted in the index of a directory on an Apache-based web server. I can't remember how to do this.

Can anyone help me remember this trick? Direct me to the page that talks about it so that I can bookmark it permanently?

India Pop on iTunes?

My wife loves the Bend it Like Beckham soundtrack. I don't know what to call the music: India Pop? Can you recommend similar music? (Bonus for tunes available through the iTunes Music Store.)
