I have a few hundred jazz albums on MP3 in my iTunes library. I'd to add the names of the sidemen on the albums to the MP3's comment tags, but I'd rather not enter the info manually, for obvious reasons. Is there any form of script or program that exists that will do this for me -- perhaps pulling from Amazon, or some other source? (Prefix this with, "Hey, Lazyweb," if desired.)

Say I wanted to fill the genre tags of my whole mp3 library automatically.
Say I trusted the
last.fm community enough to use the three most used tags for a certain song/album listed there (for example:
New Order's Ceremony would get "80s" "new wave" and "post-punk").
Say I wanted to do this automatically.
Say I had a Mac.
How would I go about this?

Given an mp3 file by student. He says he wrote the music. I doubt it. Can I look inside and find if the details have been edited?

I imported some mp3s into iTunes, searched for them in my music library and couldn't find them. I tried re-importing them: same thing. Finally, I found them in the podcast library. I don't want them there. How does iTunes decide to put a particular mp3 in the podcast library? I can't see any obvious tag that tells it to do this. What can I do to these mp3s to get to to show up in my main library?

I need to understand the most popular ways that people "corrupt" the album tag within their MP3's with additional information (such as disc number).

All of my MP3s contain only Artist/Song info in their ID tags. Is there a program (Windows) that can search by Artist/Song and add Album/Year/etc info to my MP3 tags?

I love tags. We all love tags. They're the greatest invention ever. But is there software that can help me organize my music collection using tags? (No, not the ID3 variety)

What to do about the compilations? I've recently started using iTunes for my mp3-listening activities, and finally have a use for metadata tags other than Artist/Song/Album (
dynamic playlists make my socks roll up and down, up and down). But how to deal with greatest-hits collections and other compilations, where the album-release date has nothing to do with when the song came out? Do people (that is, you) actually look up the year for each song? If so, where? If not, what do you do?
