Is there a Windows application that will search audio files for a clip? I'm not looking for a web search, but something that will take a short clip and look within larger clips for the same audio.

I have a long (11 hour each way) drive coming up (NY to NC) next week. I am a pretty seasoned distance driver (many two-day TX to Toronto drives), but I am going by myself (with 2 dogs) and I need something to keep me sane and awake. I would love to have some This American Life or CarTalk or the like podcasts to listen to but...while I am nothing like a tech/net n00b, I confess that I don't really know how this podcast thing works to get past episodes. Please hope me!

Where might I find episodes of a defunct podcast called Josh In Japan (circa 2006) that is no longer on iTunes and no longer has a web site? Do any of you mefites have the files sitting on your hard drive?

What can I put on my MP3 player to get me through hours of much-hated housework & chores, particularly now that I'm packing up to move house (not long after I finished unpacking after the last move, dammit, so I haven't much motivation)?

What's a good MP3 player for audiobooks, podcasts, and lectures? It has to support variable playback speed, and it would be nice if it's small and cheap.

I can't seem to be able to download certain episodes of the
Answer Me This! podcast from the iTunes Store. Although the titles show up in my iTunes podcast library, they seem to be streaming links with no mp3 files actually copied to my machine.

I'm looking for a premium podcasting service. Here is what I need. I need to be able to upload MP3 files to a server which will allow me to manage about 20 different private URL podcasts for a small internship's classes. Ideally this service would have simple embed HTML code so we can add a player to web pages. Each private podcast will have 16-20 hours of content.

Can you recommend any funny podcasts? The topic of
podcasts has come up before and I've found many inspiring/thought-provoking/informative/entertaining MP3s, but for variety's sake, what are some funny ones?

I'm looking for good sources of creative-commons licensed, edgy rock instrumental music. A really good example of this is www.saviumsaliva.com. The music there just seems to work for the podcast that I'm working on.
I've tried Jamendo, and one other "search engine" for creative commons licensed music, but slow going. I keep hoping for the motherlode.. So far, not so much.
Anyone have any other suggestions for places to look?
Thanks!

In Linux, what's the simplest way to take a podcast RSS file as input, and output a file containing just the URLs of all the MP3s enclosed in the RSS file? Difficulty: the method must only Bash + GNU tools, Python or Perl, with no non-standard add-on libraries or dependencies required.

I imported some mp3s into iTunes, searched for them in my music library and couldn't find them. I tried re-importing them: same thing. Finally, I found them in the podcast library. I don't want them there. How does iTunes decide to put a particular mp3 in the podcast library? I can't see any obvious tag that tells it to do this. What can I do to these mp3s to get to to show up in my main library?

I'm interested in acquiring a little comfort with spoken French - passively, by listening to it. I looked through a Podcast archive (and looked through some AskMe threads), and could only find French music. I'm interested in news, stories, interviews -- basically just listening to French people talking. Even stuff intended for children might be good.
