Here's one I've had no luck finding:
A) in the movies, is there a name for those films they used to project behind actors in a movie car to make it look like they were actually on the road? You know the ones: the slightly out of focus view out the rear window. Maybe a chase scene with the bad guy car in pursuit... Or just plain ol' traffic...
B) are any of these background films archived online? Tried Prelinger archives but no luck.

Gettysburg, which is a great education in the Civil War for our 15-year-old son. What are other great movies about battles and war?

By 1989 the boombox had established a fairly stable place in the pantheon of pop culture cinema, with the releases of both
Do the Right Thing and
Say Anything. Can you remember seeing (and hearing!) the machine in earlier films? I'm especially interested to learn its earliest appearances.

I want to see some WWII-era propaganda (or at least pro-war, pro-service) films on DVD, especially those with musical interludes in the style of the Andrews Sisters. Any recommendations beyond
Buck Privates, which I unfortunately cannot easily find in Canada?

I'm looking for sites related to American popular culture from the early 20th century: books, films, radio, magazines, music, dance, comic strips, celebrities — you name it. I'm particularly interested on the period between the wars, but open to great stuff from before (and during) World War I, as well. Little Nemo, Keystone Kops, the Lindy Hop, Enrico Caruso, Fatty Arbuckle, Al Jolson, Clara Bow, Flash Gordon, Alice blue, Teddy bears, etc. These are all the sorts of things I'm after, especially as they're represented on the web.
Bonus points for sites with RSS feeds. [more inside]

Normally, I'm not a big fan of historical or period films, but lately I've been enjoying a few. Recently, I watched
Braveheart and
Gladiator, and now I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions. I do enjoy epics, and I don't mind older films, so any ideas would be welcome. What historical hero movies do you recommend?
