I dragged my kids (ages 13, 11, 9) to see Les Miserables. They loved it. What other works should Mean Dad "drag" them to enjoy so that they become well-rounded adults with perspective and taste when it comes to media choices? [more inside]

When was the first time "school lunch" was ridiculed in a movie (most likely a teen flick) or a TV show? We're currently producing a documentary on school lunch, and we know that there was a cultural shift in how school lunch was perceived (great social achievement to grotesque laughingstock). If you can help us identify the first instance of this shift in popular culture, we'll give you a film credit.

Regarding motion pictures: I know what a screenplay writer does. I know what a director does. What I do NOT understand is what a Producer does. Nor do I understand what an Executive Producer does. And how do they (Producers) figure so prominently in blurbs, reviews, and awards? Insight, please?
