I prefer to keep my leftovers in tupperware.

Moustache care options? Moustachioed MeFites, answer me this: are there grooming tricks to keeping a bushy moustache out of the way of incoming food? Or rather, does being the owner of a big moustache require a careful eating style? Should I just relent, and accept that soup-straining is the inevitable consequence of the hirsute appendage?

Basically, I find shaving/beard maintenance a nuissance and would like to just let it keep growing. And I also like the idea of having a big bushy moustache. But every time I let my beard grow out I hit this natural length-barrier when its long enough to catch food. I find it totally disgusting, and that's when I start trimming the moustache.

So, I welcome your thoughts and anecdotes. For example, do you have experience with moustache wax? Is it suitable at this shorter length? Are there alternatives?

Where to get a beard trim in London?

Where can you get a good beard and moustache trim/style in London that isn't too expensive? I've just grow out a beard and fancied getting a pro job done to make it look good. I don't quite want to pay for an expensive gentleman's place though.

FWIW, I am young with long hair. But I don't want an overly modish facial hairstyle, just to look like a good job.

Why did prominent politicians start shaving circa 1910 Onwards?

What was the reason that the leaders of most western countries (such as America, Australia and the UK) stopped wearing facial hair from around 1910 onwards? Curiosity got the the better of me today and I decided to try and find out when facial hair on a President or Prime Minister stopped being the norm.

What I found was that in America, the last President to sport any kind of facial hair was William Taft, President from 1909 to 1913. From then on, every President is clean shaven.

In the UK it's a little more difficult. The last British Prime Minister with any facial hair was Harold MacMillian who was PM between 1957 and 1963, but before him there had been a string of Prime Ministers who had no facial hair at all. But interestingly in 1908, around the same time as Taft was starting his stint as POTUSA, the first British Prime Minister to break the streak of a long line of bearded British PMs, Herbert Henry Asquith, was elected, replacing the mustachioed Henry Campbell-Bannerman.

And here in my native Australia, the last Prime Minister to sport any facial hair was Billy Hughes, who was in office from 1915 to 1923.

So basically, from as early as 1908 but as late as 1923, facial hair on our political leaders became unfashionable. My question is why? What was the social or political reasons that started to compel politicians to shave off the giant beard or the cookie dusters and go clean shaven? I know that the old adage in politics is that "facial hair means you have something to hide" but was politics really that cynical as far back as 1908? I doubt it somehow.

Now I'm super curious. Does anyone know what the impetus for this change was? Was it something to do with World War I? A desire to modernize as the world left the 1800s behind? Did facial hair simply fall out of fashion in general? Any ideas? Bonus points for something qualitative.

If there was a greeting card with a fuzzy felt mustache on the outside, what would the inside say? I came across a huge lot of brown wool felt and decided to sew little mustaches that I attached to the front of blank greeting cards. Now i'm stumped wondering what, if any, text I should add either under the mustache or inside the card.

Mustache-O-Gram?
Everything's better with a mustache?

Any ideas?

Firefox says mustache is the correct spelling. I always thought it was moustache.

Razor Filter: What's a good electric razor for legs and face? Mama Moth has, like her sisters and female relatives, a moustache. While not bothered by this to the extent of laser removal, she wants a little workhorse of a razor she can use on her mouth and chin area and then on her legs in the summer time. Thus she has asked me (her daughter) to beg the mighty green mefi for their advice in this matter.

The intended gender of the razor doesn't matter, and she'll pay plenty if it's a nice, long lasting unit that gives a good shave. So, give ye your advice, oh wise and mighty hivemind! Which products are worth it and which aren't worth the cost of stamps to return them?

Mustachioed gifts

Quirky gift filter: My friends and I have recently become obsessed with mustaches. I thought it would be great to give some mustache-themed gifts for the holidays, but I'm coming up short. So far I've purchased mustache wax and a mustache mug.
I'd really love something like a mustache belt buckle or non-offensive t-shirt to give the ladies in our group. Any other ideas?

How to style my moustache

With what do I wax my moustache - not hair-removal style waxing, but old-school-grooming style waxing? I have been letting my moustache grow way out in preparation for a performance of Music Man (set in 1912). I'd like to gel or pomade or wax it into a nice handlebar - if I can figure out what to use. I shave my head, so I don't have hair gel, and I'm balking at buying a gallon of the cheap stuff or paying $5+ for a handful of the cool stuff when I don't know if it will even work. Does anyone still make/sell moustache wax? Will regular hair gel work? Do I need a pomade? Would petroleum jelly work?

Historical reenactors and cool moustache guys, answer away!

Oh why oh why did I do that.

oh CRAP filter: I just waxed off a huge chunk of skin from my upper-lip and eyebrow. Help! I was waxing my 'stache and eyebrows as usual when I decided to go in for a second round to rip off some remaining hairs (oh how I wish I could go back in time and just tweeze them out). After ripping off the second application I noticed the skin I had just waxed looked extremely smooth and shiny (compared to the rest of my skin). Um, uh oh??

After realizing what I'd just done, I rushed to put ice on the skin and put some moisturizer on it. Right now I look like I just got burned twice badly on my face by a curling iron.

I've never had a problem like this before, and on hindsight this is probably due to my latest beauty regime of alpha hydroxy based treatment every night. Sigh.

The best part is, I have to be at work in a couple hours. Yay.

Besides the ice and lotion, what else can I do for my newly "super exfoliated" skin or am I too late? Anyone know how long it will take for my skin to uh, grow back? Is this going to leave a terrible scar?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks so much in advance!

I need a good fake moustache. I need to purchase a fake moustache, a good one, something like this. I need this for Friday, October 27. The more real the better, and definitely something that would need to stay on for six to eight hours, and preferrably something that I could reuse the following day.

I'm in the Baton Rouge area, so finding some place local would be excellent. But if I could be directed some website that could do next-day or two-day shipping (bonus points if I could use my Amazon Prime account), I would entertain that option as well. Help!
