laptop filter: the left-click that's built in to my laptop touchpad has been acting up. it has gotten really unsensitive and requires several extremely hard clicks in order to trigger a response (and that only works sometimes). the right-click works totally fine. [more inside]

Sometime around the beginning of this year, my Intuos2 Model 0608-U 6"x8" Wacom tablet driver stopped loading upon login and restart. I reinstall it every time I login/restart. Succour for Aged Computers Filter: I've got an old computer that is having two problems. 1) When it boots up, it always asks to go into safemode. This is an old problem. 2) when it boots up, I can use the kb to select safemode (or not) or make selections in the bios, but when XP loads up, mouse and kb aren't working! [more inside]

I noticed that as times goes by, computer mice (and other plastic items) get used by skin friction. I notice my mice have "smooth" areas on their buttons that obviously seem to be there because of use. Is there a way to prevent that? [more inside]

When I try to use the middle mouse button (scroll wheel) in Firefox and Opera to open a link in a background tab it will sometimes "jump" down a few lines, not clicking the correct link and sometimes clicking a wrong one, and then jumping back to the first position as soon as I let go of the button. This is unbelievably annoying. The mouse is a "Genius NetScroll+Eye PS/2".
