I've had RSI related pain in my right wrist (right side) now for over a year that's showed no sign of improvement. My work is all computer based (admin) and the software we used isn't very shortcut friendly, so I'm using the mouse all day. I've had to give up playing guitar (my favourite hobby) because it causes me too much pain to play. The pain is constant from the moment I wake up (around a 2-3) then gets worse throughout the day (up to about a 5) when I use my wrists. I'd love to take some time off to rest my wrist but I literally use it for everything. [more inside]
We live next to the woods, so we get mice. Our cats are excellent micers, so we're used to disposing of the occasional dead mouse. We also humane traps, so we're using to taking a live mouse for a long car ride for release. However, this morning, I interrupted a cat from her kill, so there is now a dying mouse under a heavy bowl on the kitchen floor (to keep the dog away). I just checked, and it's still alive. How does one remove a dying mouse safely? When I last checked, it was moving (which may or may not have caused me to shreik) so I'm not sure if it's strong enough to try to escape, although it has visible puncture wounds from my cat's teeth.
I'm dealing, suddenly, with a very annoying problem on my Lenovo laptop. It's running Windows 10 and is about 1.5 years old. When I opened it this evening, there was a second visible mouse cursor in a little bubble on my screen, and it won't go away no matter what I do. Uh oh... [more inside]
I'm in a small office that has all newish Mac desktop computers. The last week or so- five of us have all been experiencing connection issues with our wireless keyboards and mice. They disconnect and reconnect at random, but I can't figure out why this is happening. What the heck is going on? [more inside]
My cheap Dell laptop has finally lost both of its regular USB ports. (Sooner or later you jerk either the laptop or the mouse, and the little plastic rectangle snaps off where the USB plug connects to the laptop.) If I buy a USB-to-HDMI adapter, could I plug my mouse into my laptop's HDMI port? Or if I go to a repair shop, will they be able to fix the USB ports?
I use a hardwire-connected (NOT wireless) mouse (Targus, probably older) with a MacBook Air running El Capitan 10.11.3, connected via USB through my (also) USB-connected keyboard. The response/latency of the mouse is driving me crazy! Help! [more inside]
Can anyone recommend a mouse proof kitchen trash can? [more inside]
I need a wired USB computer mouse that is reliable, doesn't use a ball (so optical / laser) and has a scroll wheel. Bonus points if the mouse is also stylish. I'm willing to spend up to $50—(probably) not any higher.
You know the little plastic feet on the bottom of a mouse that should allow it to skate effortlessly across a mouse pad? How do you make them smooth again once they've been roughed up? Sanding? Nail polish?? (I have two Logitech M510's. The older mouse is better, except for its scruffy little feet.)
While I was writing this question, the mouse went away, but I'm leaving my question like this because I want to know what to do if/when this happens again (I've put the old part in italics): [more inside]
I am looking for an external numberpad for a Dell M3800. I would prefer Bluetooth in order to not having to use an USB receiver. It seems there are not many options. Thoughts? Alternatively, any recommendations for a cable free numberpad using a receiver that also supports a mouse and is super small? [more inside]

I need to give a demonstration on an iPhone 6+, and need to have full control of the device. Difficulty level: I will not be holding the phone, and will not have a desk surface for a traditional mouse. In a perfect and just world, I would simply be able to connect a bluetooth mouse and use it like any other input device, but I understand that iOS does not support mice. Assume I do not need any multi touch gestures, just taps and swipes. [more inside]
I'm looking for something which may or may not exist: a gaming mouse which has a button for every finger. Or more precisely, a gaming mouse on which I can comfortably rest all five of my fingers on separate, fully functional button during normal use. [more inside]

My right side is developing RSI and pinched nerve symptoms more and more, so in addition to ordering a better keyboard and mouse I also am trying to switch to using my left hand for mousing, to rest my right (dominant) side. However, trying this now with my normal mouse, I want to punch in the computer after a little while. How long did it take for you switch mousing hands, if you've done it, and was it worth it? OK, this is odd: I recently bought (online) a little (portable/spare) USB Mouse (fitted with a spring-loaded, self-retracting cable-tidier). Fine. The mouse arrived today, along with a Yellow, Plasticised-wire (pipe-cleaner type thing), which has a cute duck face at the end of it, and a strange forked-tail. No other explanation. (Easter, perhaps?!), but I suspect it's some kind of mouse cradle to hang off a laptop... I don't get how this might be used, but wondered if anyone here could explain what it was / it's proper usage to me. Ta
When I use a mouse with a scrollwheel on the mac, the scrolling doesn't work like I'm used to in windows. Specifically, if I scroll one click of the wheel, it scrolls an infinitesimal amount (looks like one pixel height). I've never looked specifically at what the Windows behavior is, but I think it's three lines per scroll click. Is there any way to change this to be what I'm used to?
Hi, I have 1 keyboard, 1 mouse, and two desktop computers to use with a 3-monitor setup. I would like to know the best way to use a triple monitor setup where I can click a button and switch back and forth between desktop A and desktop B for the single keyboard/mouse and the monitors. Consolidating files onto one machine is not an option. Are there devices or hubs I could plug the keyboard/mouse/monitors and desktops into that can do this? Amazon links would be great.
Help! My family member ask me to help install a printer (a Lexmark x5470) on her laptop. I installed the drivers and then, when I restarted the computer the MOUSE AND KEYBOARD DONT WORK. She is willing to pay for it. We (her friends, who are staging an intervention of sorts) feel landlord is being ridiculous. I'm asking on her behalf because 1) I'm taking this sooo personally because I don't think the situation is fair; This to me is no longer about a mouse, it's about a control freak landlord, but anyway. and 2) I also don't think it can wait for her to sign up on AskMeFi and wait the one week it takes for her to ask it herself. Way forward? [more inside]
Microsoft advertises their "BlueTrack" mice as being able to work on almost any surface, with only a few exceptions (mirrors and glass, if I remember correctly). But mine works on almost no surface. [more inside]
I need help naming some mouse monsters for a gift! Pun names are the best, of course! I'm planning on making a Frankenstein, a vampire, and a space alien but if you guys can come up with good names I am willing to consider doing other monsters. (I REALLY want to do an alien though, because tentacles!) My ideas so far: Count Squeakula and Frankenmouse. Suggestions?

Hi! I can't use the left click button on my Asus A53E laptop anymore. Do you smart computer folk have any suggestions to help me get back on track? I can use an external mouse just fine, and I can use the right click button on the laptop just fine. It's the left click button on the laptop that's the problem, and I can't get it to respond in any way. I have restored my settings to last week, and it still won't work. Thank you very kindly for any suggestions.
Without warning, my mouse pointer has developed a mind of its own. It drifts across the screen and activates (clicks on) whatever it is hovering over. I disabled the touchpad and this behavior still occurs with a USB mouse. I'm running Windows 7. It is still happening in Windows Safe Mode.

Mousefilter: a house mouse got its back half stuck in a box fan last night. We heard it squeaking and rescued it (and I got nipped). I'm sure not knowing this makes me an idiot, but I need quick help saving a few images from NASA's site to my hard drive without the ability to right-click. Right-clicking on my optical Microsoft mouse has apparently just died; I'm getting no menu when I right-click on an image (everything else is working fine; changing batteries doesn't help). For now I'm alt-left-clicking to highlight the image and then copying it, but is there another way to pull up the menu that usually appears when you right-click a web image in Windows? [more inside]
