Please help me think of a shared experience my mother and I can have to celebrate her 60th birthday that does not include a spa or salon. I'd like to leave the parameters mostly open, but my budget is somewhere around $150 - $200.

My mother's 60th birthday is next week and I want to get her something really special, but she's the single hardest person in the world to shop for.

My sister is the mother of two young 'uns, four years and one and a half , respectively. She is harried but eminently happy! Her birthday is coming up, what would be a good present to give her?

What can I get my mother for her 70th birthday? I'm thinking a cultural/educational experience more than an object.

QuoteFilter: For my mum's seventy*coughcoughcough*th birthday this year, I found a bunch of postcards from her hometown in England. I'm putting them into a book, and I'd like a nice quotation or something to write in nice script on the outside. Something about roots or birthplaces or something, and amusing Oscar-Wilde-style or touching-but-not-saccharine would be preferred to glurgey-sugary-weepy.

My mum will be 65 on March 18. She can just about buy anything her wee little heart desires. I cannot because money is, well, in short supply. What should I get/buy/do for her birthday?
