Do hotels or motels refuse to rent rooms to unmarried couples anymore? I took my girlfriend on a romantic getaway to the beach this weekend, and while I was not very concerned about it, I did wonder if it would be a problem. [more inside]

Can we find a room in Chicago for $100/night? My wife, 14-year-old son, and I are flying there for the first week of April. We'll split time between one sister in the distant suburbs who has room for guests and one in the city who does not have room. The sister in the city suggested City Suites in the Belmont-Sheffield neighborhood where she lives, which sounds nice, but it's close to $200/night. Can we find two beds for under $100? [more inside]

My wife is driving with a friend and out 11-yr old god-daughter from our home in Sacramento down to San Diego, leaving Sunday evening. They expect to be near San Luis Obispo when it's time to pull over and go to sleep. Can anyone suggest a good, interesting, fun or otherwise worthy hotel/motel/inn/b&b in the area?
I hate to ask 2 questions in one day, but you are all so very helpful! Please forgive me.
