I need recommendations for a digital video recorder designed for multiple video inputs, including sound, (four cameras point at an animal enclosure at a zoo) that's designed to allow for easy access to the videos recorded. Networkable would be really great, or standard removable storage (USB/SATA). I'd prefer it if the device recorded directly in a standard video format so no conversion from a proprietary format is needed.

I have LCD displays I need to display video on, but they displays were made on the cheap and the colors display strangely. The screens have no brightness/contrast adjustment options. How do I determine the contrast ratio/gamma of these screens so that I can make adjustments to my video files? [more inside]

I just bought a pretty high-end Dell PC with a large LCD monitor.
It's got dual Core2 CPUs @ 2.66GHz, 4 GB of RAM, and a decent graphics card. The monitor is a widescreen 27" Dell Ultrasharp.
So far, I like the PC. But I was disappointed to find that the first PC game I tried (BioShock) runs TERRIBLY. The game does run pretty well on my slightly older PC, which only has a 19" monitor.
So, I think the large, widescreen monitor is the problem. Is that correct? Are there tricks to running the latest games on a large LCD monitor?
Many thanks in advance for any advice and insight.

My girlfriend has acquired a second-hand Sony Vaio PCG-C1VE laptop. The OS is Windows XP. Her problem is that she can't get the display out of 640x480. She's looking for display drivers, specifically video drivers and monitor drivers if such things exist - she can't find them anywhere.
Has anyone got any ideas?

I'm looking for a simple LCD video monitor in the 10 to 15" range that takes S-Video or RCA input. It needs to have at least 640x480 resolution. I don't need an actual LCD TV with a tuner and sound. Just a video monitor.
Any recommendations?
