My monitor is alternately displaying a message "OSD Lockout" (2 x 5 inch box in the middle of the screen) and then displays the actual OSD (on screen display). I cannot bring the OSD up, I can't move the selector when the OSD pops up on its own, I can't get the messages to stop. It will loop endlessly. Any ideas? [more inside]

I need help with using a projector as a secondary display. I would like the computer to be able to recognize when the projector has been plugged in and automatically set the projector as the primary display without having to fiddle with the settings. Help! I just brought home a big o' 21" viewsonic P815 monitor. It didn’t have the monitor cable, so I used a crappy one I had. I’m noticing a lot of odd “shadow” effects, especially with black text on a white background- the text is clear, but there’s a very light grey echo to the right of it, then a lighter echo to the right of that, and so on. It reminds me of cable "ghosting." My question: is it a cable problem or a monitor problem? [more inside]

My girlfriend has acquired a second-hand Sony Vaio PCG-C1VE laptop. The OS is Windows XP. Her problem is that she can't get the display out of 640x480. She's looking for display drivers, specifically video drivers and monitor drivers if such things exist - she can't find them anywhere.
Has anyone got any ideas?

I have a 1024x768 resolution. When I run programs which are native to 800x600, instead of stretching to fit the whole screen, they show in 1024x768, but in a small box in the middle of my screen with a huge black border. The same thing happens when I manually change my resolution to 800x600 - resolution stays the same, but the viewable area shrinks, leaving a small rectangle in the middle and a large blank space around it. Ack. Happily coding away in DreamWeaver when my monitor hiccuped, and suddenly my horizontal display had been switched to a vertical one (ie, so I need to rotate my monitor 90 degrees CW to read properly). No amount of poking around Windows XP settings or Googling has given me the simple solution I seek: How on earth do I switch back to a regular horizontal view? Everything else seems to be working just dandy.

2 to 3 times a day my work computer locks up and i get a pop-up message: "The s3sav4 display driver has stopped working normally. [Save & reboot]" My screen drops down to a 640 x 480 display with almost no color. I reboot and everything is fine again (for a few hours). The cheap bastards here are not going to buy me a new computer. Is it a hardware or software issue -- any clues as to the nature of the problem and if there anything I can do or download to fix it?
