For editing photography: How do I calibrate these two screens: My iPad (I realize I'm just setting brightness here), and the monitor connected to my Mac (the Mac prefs calibration instructions don't work for me at all). Is there an excellent reference image out there I can use to calibrate my screens? [more inside]

What's a good colour temperature for DTP work, in terms of warmness/coolness? That's to say, what will avoid me getting too much of a shock when I see the printed materials (that include photos)? My 2009-era Macbook Pro's display edges towards warm (yellowish) while my Samsung SyncMaster 2333 edges towards coolness (blueish).

The LCD displays I have for my desktop and laptop are both very sensitive to viewing angle, especially up/down. Viewing angle seems to affect brightness and gamma. Are all LCD monitors this way? If so, does it do any good at all to try to calibrate them? Which LCD monitors, if any, are good for photo editing? Or does everyone still just use CRTs? [more inside]

Woke up this morning and my Sony Trinitron monitor looked weird. The colors are washed out, almost like a layer of white was put on top of it and the opacity was dropped way down. I degaussed it, turned it off, pulled the plug... nothing helps. Any ideas or is my wondermonitor dead?
