How do I clean mold and scum off brick and concrete?

I have a concrete carport with a brick trim, and it doesn’t drain well and sometimes has leaves on it, meaning there’s a decent build-up of green mold and some black stuff that’s probably mold or some other fungus. What’s a good cleaner or other stuff to use to eliminate it, without a ton of scrubbing or causing some kind of major environmental damage to my yard?

Bleach, vinegar, mold, help.

I recently discovered mold in my apartment. It's a new building (a backyard cottage) and very airtight, and recent cool/rainy weather caused excessive condensation on windows...which led to black mold on windowsills. I'm about to move out, for other reasons. But I'm trying to get the mold out of one of the windowsills before I go. A few more details inside. [more inside]

New apartment seems mold-prone

I moved during the summer and have noticed that my new place seems to attract mold at a higher rate than other places I've lived. I'm wondering if these things should be a cause for concern, or if these are just normal things given the specific situations. [more inside]

Woman Without Hat!

I have this suede Australian outback hat that I bought at a garage sale a few weeks ago, for $6. I didn't examine it closely at the time, but it reeks of mold and must, leather small, and saddlesoap from a stab at self cleaning. Can I dry clean it? Here's pictures of the hat in question: My Poor Hat, two pics of it. It's a Walkabout brand Australian hat, size small. [more inside]

Tell me about getting rid of mold - Desert Edition

We live in the high desert where humidity is consistently below 10%, and I bought a humidifier that was just too good at its job. Now we have mold in the bedroom, and I have no idea how to get rid of it. It's nothing like the giant patches of mold in the horror story pictures you see around the internet. We're talking scattered spots less than a tenth of a millimeter across, but they're on three of the walls and the silicon sealing around the window. [more inside]

How to get mold out of neoprene?

Please help, hive mind! I left a banana in my neoprene lunch bag and it got really moldy on the bottom. The mold didn't go through the whole bag, but it's ugly and polka dotted on the inside. It's a "Built" brand bag, made of neoprene, if that makes a difference. I ran it through a (cold) wash cycle once, and it didn't do a darn thing. I'd hate to ruin the bag with bleach, but I'm not sure what else to do. Does color safe bleach get rid of mold?

Why does our kitchen sponge smell like mildew after less than a week?

Our kitchen sponge starts to smell like mildew after less than a week of normal use. We use a standard "scrubby" sponge that has an abrasive side and an absorbent sponge side. Has anybody else experienced this problem, and if so, what did you do about it, or do you have any general advice about keeping sponges from mildewing quickly? [more inside]
