I want to be able to do real text input on a mobile device. Not two-thumb it. And I want to be able to enter special characters such as numbers and ()*+-[TAB] easily. Basically, I want to be able to write programs, not just misspelled SMS messages, more-or-less at full speed on a tiny device. How? [more inside]

I'm looking for an easy to use 3g phone that my mother can use. All she needs is the ability to make/recieve phone calls & texting.
Touch screens are a no, no. And the phone should be under £100.
3g is a must as we need to get her on the 3 network in the UK.

I have a 3G iPhone. If I buy a wireless (no 3G) iPad, is it possible to share my iPhone's 3G connection with my iPad? My goal is to be able to access the internet with my iPad, without having a 3G plan for it.

I'm looking for good mobile websites that are mainly text and update often, with individual content brief enough that I can finish reading by the time the bus comes.
Despite what it might imply, texts from last night
perfectly encapsulates what I want. I just want more of it. And maybe for it to be informative on top of entertaining. Just something internet-y that I can browse for 3-5 minutes at a time.

I would like to create a 'text of the day' type mobile phone service. A service where the user sends a word to a cell #. They are then billed monthly for the service via their mobile phone bill. You see this kind of thing on TV all the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As a follow up question, if there a way I can buy a SIM in Japan that would provide me with an unlimited data for that week?

Could I have messed up my cellphone's reception when I replaced its casing? I recently replaced the casing on my phone: taking my phone apart, unscrewing lots of things, then putting the phone into a new case. I just followed online instructions; I don't have a lot of experience with these sorts of things. I can't remember when it started, but my phone seems to say "Emergency Calls Only" or "No Carrier" quite regularly now, and I never noticed it doing this in the past. Is there something I can do to fix it? [more inside]
