How does one get a virtual international phone number that is SMS-capable?

I'm looking to get a virtual international phone number that can send and receive SMS text messages and can be used with my US mobile phone. I've found Virtual Phone Line and VoipVoip, but they support voice calls only, not SMS.

I want a clever dumbphone.

I'm mostly happy with my Nokia 2330 (weeklong battery life, ultraslim and light candybar, disappears in my pocket, holds up to light abuse), but am getting tired of the slow messaging. The inbox and other sections/menus take forever to load, and I seem to type faster than the phone's little processor can handle. If the messaging was speedier, it would be perfect. But it isn't, and I'd like to upgrade. What should I be looking at next? I'd like to keep the features I like, but have a speedier phone. I only text and (barely) call. I will be prepaid with AT&T or T-Mobile.

What is the best way to get a Vintage Mobile Phone up and running again?

A friend of mine has an old vintage phone the same as this one here. My limited knowledge leads me to believe that because it was an old analogue phone there is no chance of getting it working again in it's current form. It's in very good condition and we were thinking if it was possible to take the "guts" out of a cheap new phone and put them inside the handset part of the old phone. We only really want to use it for novelty value but neither of us really have a clue how we would match up the keys/screen/antenna or even how to open up the older handset as there are no obvious screws to undo. If anyone could shed any light on if this is possible & how to do it we would very much appreciate it. Cheers

Digital files, accessible from anywhere?

Question for Graphic Designer types: What's the best solution for secure and reliable online storage, with 24/7 access from a desktop/laptop (Mac, PC and Linux), smart phone and/or mobile device and the web, for gigabytes of graphic design files? Porting a cell phone number to a land line phone?

Can I port my existing AT&T Wireless cell phone number to a new Comcast Digital Voice land line account? The 1-800-Comcast customer support rep. said no, but the FCC says "you can switch telephone service providers, including interconnected Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) providers, and keep your existing phone number". What's the final verdict? Anyone have experience with this?

Unlocked Dell Streak?

Is there any way yet to buy a truly carrier-unlocked Dell Streak in the USA? The ones in the US for $450 are carrier locked. If I buy the model from the UK, with VAT, it'll be something like $700 after converting GBP to USD, and those are -also- carrier locked, to O2. [more inside]

No Signal

What is wrong with my new mobile phone? When my phone goes idle after 15 sec of no use (typical battery saving function) or loses the signal when I am in an elevator (typical situation but normally survivable), it won't automatically reconnect so it's like I don't even have a phone.
