I have had an LG cu320 phone for about 1.5 years, so it's out of warranty and I stupidly (or arrogantly) did not get insurance for the phone. Now an internal part is broken which has rendered the screen completely white and LG won't send me (the customer) the part and can only suggest I send it to them to repair, which would cost a *minimum* of $35. Do you use Virgin Mobile (in the U.S.)? Even better, do you use their Slice phone? All its specs are fine for me; I'm hoping to hear how you like it (especially the sound quality of calls, since the reviews of that are mixed) and/or how you like using Virgin Mobile.
I've upgraded from this HTC smartphone, which runs Windows Mobile 4 (I think) to this HTC smartphone, which runs Windows Mobile 5. Is there any way to transfer from the old phone to the new phone: a) the predictive-text dictionary (thus saving myself re-entering the many placenames and dozens of swear words I've submitted) and/or b) my past SMS text messages?

Options for staying connected to the Internet while traveling outside the US for extended period of time.
I'm going to be traveling outside the US for the next year with my laptop and was wondering what the best options are for internet connectivity. The itinerary isn't set, but it will be a mix of Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America. I'm a freelance web developer and will be working remotely part time to support my existing clients during my travels. [more inside]

Mobile Computing Filter - my boss has informed me he would like me to get some sort of mobile computing device to become more efficient while on the road. I've been looking at Pocket PCs, Blackberrys, Tablet PCs, Trios etc. What do you use? What works and what does not? What features do you wish you had? Webmail IMAP client: like SquirrelMail, but smaller, for a mobile phone? My new phone (S/E w810i) does "email", in the sense that it can talk to a small range of pre-selected partners like Yahoo or AOL. I'm looking for a web-based IMAP client that I can use to access my own IMAP server. It should be something along the lines of MIR, but that allows writing mail as well as reading it. I like SquirrelMail a lot, but it doesn't have a non-framed, minimal view.

I have a siemens C55 telephone that is simlocked. I've also gotten the unlock code off my provider a while back. The problem is I either didn't receive or have lost the unlock instructions, i.e. what exactly I need to type into the phone along with the unlock code, and whether this should be with the original sim card, a new sim card or no sim card at all loaded. I know I can unlock it without the code if I have a data cable, but I don't have a data cable and they'd probably cost more than the entire phone is worth. Googling is made difficult by the millions of sites offering to unlock phones for low low prices.

consider: - manufacturing costs of very small and powerful memory storage and processing capabilities falling at a fast rate - the convergence of many technologies (cellular, mobile music, cameras, internet, etc...) into devices with capabilities for each -how when you go to a coffee shop and everyone in the whole room is on a laptop could one infer from these premises (however truthful you find them to be) that the age of home computing is coming to an end? could one infer that desktops will fade out of use by the general public, preserved only by lonely programmers and developers that create the digital media landscape we consume?
