I'm a complete N00b when it comes to writing to my government/MLA. Recent events have made me want to voice my concern w/ the government's actions and encourage my MLA to stand up and voice his disapproval. How do I learn what is proper to include in a letter and what isn't? How do I not come off as a crazy ranter and appear as a concerned constituent? Tips? Examples?

MLA citation filter: How would I go about citing a footnote in a text that is not written by the author of the text? For example, I am writing about a poem in an anthology, and I will be making use of some of the information provided in the footnotes. How would I cite those parenthetically? Google has just turned up instructions on how to do citations, and I can't seem to find anything on this in my MLA handbook.

MLA Style Filter: I'm citing an interview that was published online. I know how to set up the entry on the Works Cited page, but the MLA Handbook offers no suggestions on how to format the parenthetical in-text reference. If John Doe told Jane Reporter, "I love cats," how do I cite that? Like this? "I love cats" (Doe, Reporter interview). There is no page number, as this was published online. Thanks!

I found a nice LaTeX .sty file for mla6, but to format the citations properly, it requires a long preamble which I'd rather not copy and paste each time I write a paper. Can I hide it somewhere? [more inside]

MLA Citation Filter: The information I'm citing was found on a website. However, the person who made the website did not create this information. The information I'm putting into my paper is all from articles cited on the website; it's either a direct quote from the journal article that I copied and pasted from the website, or it's factual information from the articles that is presented and cited by the website author.

In my paper's bibliography, how should I cite the copied portions of journal articles? How should I cite the facts from the journal articles that are presented by the website's author? Do I cite the journal article, or the website?

Academics and scholars: anyone familiar with the text processing product on Windows called Nota Bene? A friend is switching to Macintosh and it's an application area I don't have a lot of experience with. In particular, he likes the fact that Nota Bene stores citation information separate from the formatting, so switching from MLA to APA (?) is easy to do... Any suggestions welcomed.
