A dear friend would like a collection of music similar to what she hears at the gym doing Zumba. Songs that are upbeat and either in English, Portuguese or Spanish, please. Not sure either of us can be any more specific than this, so can you help? Looking at collections on Amazon and youtube videos made me want recommendations from people who have direct experience of exercising to music. Many thanks.
I need some help wrapping up a playlist that I'm working on and the closing track is really giving me a headache, so I'd like to know if any of you have recommendations for songs that close out an album perfectly. More details inside! [more inside]
Two of my dear friends are turning 40 and 50, respectively, so we're going to have a party. Throw me some great songs from 1966 and 1976 to put on the mix! Bonus points for forgotten gems; a simple thanks for songs that are still in oldies-tight-rotation.
I'm more indie rock and my friend is a metal head. I'm trying to make her a mix of indie or pop music that still appeals to a metal vibe. Any suggestions? [more inside]
I'm looking recommendations of albums or failing that, musicians that are very similar to the Bojack Horseman theme song by Patrick Carney. That is all.
Song detectives, can you crack this crazy-tough one? Way back in the early '90s we had a mixtape with a song that included the phrase (we think) "the oysters were delighted!" I think the mixtape's theme was moon-related. [more inside]
Like alot of people over a certain age, I have a real fondness and nostalgia for making mixtapes (for myself at this point, since so few people have anything to play them on). Of course, I've used iTunes and Spotify and put tracks on memory cards etc etc but it's not the same thing at all. I'm looking to get something tangible that I can record and archive mixes to pull out and play whenever. I'm looking at Minidisc stuff on ebay, since I always liked them, but would be recording much of the material to MDs (lossy) from mp3s, AAC etc as well as higher rez formats. Would that sound ultra terrible? Should I just go back to cassettes? [more inside]
I'd like to make a mix of songs that say "everything sucks" for a group of people who I know for sure would appreciate and enjoy it. [more inside]
Of course, they used to be tapes. The last time I put a collection of music together for someone to listen to, I put it all on a thumb drive, then they just imported it all into iTunes. But my intended recipient doesn't have a desktop/laptop computer. Only an iPhone. I'm stumped. Thought of Dropbox, but... that's not gonna work. I could go iTunes gift card, then a list of music... but no. That's not a gift, that's a project! Halp?
I'm trying to make a (somewhat belated) 2014 "Mixtape" to share with friends. I have a Mac-centric home network, but I'm getting frustrated trying to simply do the following: 1. Create a playlist 2. Order the playlist and change album artist etc so it will show up as a various artists album 3. Export the songs. [more inside]
I have started a mixed tape, but now I am stuck. Can you look at my list and think in your head...I LOVE those songs...then write a comment with other super cool songs you love. And then I will have more than 4 songs for my mix tape? [more inside]
So Awesome Mix Vol. 1 turns out to be a perfect album to drown out the sound of rain while I'm reading before bed. What other commercial mixes or soundtracks are similar (not too bouncy and without large changes in volume) and might also serve in this capacity. [more inside]
Three of my favorite songs share a similar sort of vibe, a vibe that I tend to think of as sort of tango-like, but with a sort of snarling, sinister edge. I'd like to find more stuff like this so that I could make a mix tape in this vein. [more inside]
Itunes 11.1.5 MAC OS X 10.7.5 --- I made a mixtape with a hodgepodge of MP3's that I downloaded from here & there. What do I need to do in the ID3 Editor to make sure they import into Itunes as one album and in the correct order? (Currently it makes 3-4 albums of the same name with a few of the songs in each identically named album.) [more inside]
Please recommend some newer songs that have that 60s psychedelic sound. (Like the recent Ray LaMontagne album or GOASTT.)
I'm working on a mixtape and looking for songs about starting to fall in love with someone. It seems like most of the songs I have are either about starting to like someone or about someone you've already fallen in love with. I want songs for that in-between stage. [more inside]

Okay. A friend of mine is looking for "awesome, sexy, scary, dark, Halloween-type songs that [she] can do burlesque to." She's thinking along the lines of the theme song from True Blood, although she's already done a routine to that song. So please, you masters of mixes, give us your scary-sexiest songs.
My four and a half year-old son has expressed an interest in blues music. Can you help me find enough great blues songs to fill a mixtape for him that are: a) electric; b) kinda rockin'; and c) not overly lyrically troublesome for a preschool-aged tyke? [more inside]

So, musical & in-the-know folks of AskMe, please give me your best suggestions for what songs should be on it! Artist suggestions welcome too, but ideally you will suggest specific songs. I'm looking for mostly pre-2000s stuff. Not dancy necessarily, but very happy, poppy, stuff that you could dance in your seat to. So far I have; Hall & Oates - You Make My Dreams Come True Stevie Wonder - Signed Sealed Delivered George Michael - Freedom Cheesy is fine, if not encouraged. Thanks MeFi!
Help for playlist? Every year I make a mixed tape/cd for my brother for Christmas. This year the theme seems to be "almost annoying pop songs that you would never buy yourself but you know you sing along to" and "cool songs that you didnt think to buy yourself." So far I have call me maybe, never ever getting back togther, womanizer by britney spears, telephone by lady gaga, and e.t. by katy perry, for the first half. I have long skirt/short jacket by cake, seven nation army by the white stripes, another way to die by jack white and alicia keys, and oh my by gin wigmore. Can anyone suggest a couple more tunes to round out my mix tape? Thanks!
