Curiously Stronger

Where can I get the best (strongest) mints in the world? I've been sucking on Altoids since forever. I'd like to change my game. Once, I was told by a friend who was working in Japan about these mints that were so strong that they made his eyes start to tear. Does this ring a bell? I know nothing more about them.

Of course I'm not limited to finding just these Japanese mints. Any other suggestions to replace my Altoids are welcome.

Too much coffee makes my stomach cry.

Caffeinated candy suggestions? Please help me find the Blitz mints I want. I love Blitz mints. They come in a packs of 8, in a blister pack with a reflective silver cardboard sleeve. All I can find is the gum (nasty); I'm looking for the mints (sweet and tasty).

The mints look sort of like Tums: thick, dime-sized, powdery, round tablets. I found them at a 7-11 in Toronto and bought every pack in the store, but they haven't re-stocked, and I can't even find an image of them online. Even the Blitz website makes no mention of the mints, only the gum or the tiny hard mints. I want the big chewable powdery ones.

Anyone know where I can find more?
Or, (sigh) what other caffeinated mints I should try? Bonus points if I can find them in a store in downtown Toronto.

Thanks!

Mail-Order Mintsters

Mint me, MeFi! What are the best mints I can mail-order from Canada? I have looked through the archives for this, because I'm suprised it hasn't been AskMe'd before, but there doesn't seem to be a lot on the subject of mints/other small flavourful thingies. Perhaps my search-fu is weak.

I'm looking for little candies/mints/whatever that pack massive amounts of flavour and can be ordered online for shipment to Canada. Essentially as a mid-afternoon snack-killing strategy: if I can taste something, I usually lose those pointless "eat-to-taste" cravings.

I'm not fussy when it comes to taste. I like almost everything: licorice, chocolate, mint, whatnot.

I appreciate other "flavourful" suggestions, but please: I really want something in a mint-like "format" -- small, hard candies, easily stored and transported. Not nuts, nor pickles, nor gum, nor anchovies. Mint-esque suggestions only, please. Low sugar a plus but not a must.

I also want reasonable bulk -- I wouldn't balk at ordering a dozen tins at a time of Altoids (were I able to do so), for instance.

Already tried:
Tic-Tacs: fine; could be stronger.
Altoids: Okay. Unfortunately, altoids.com doesn't allow Canadian orders.
Hint Mints: love the tin, but basically sugar candy.
Jelly Bellys: not really appropriate, but okay to suck on; too easy to eat en masse.
Cough drops: Horrible. Horrible. Horrible.
Fruit drops: Bought coming back from England once; too much just hard candy.
Hoof mints: Caribou Coffee does not ship to Canada.

Andes Mints in retail stores?

Are Andes Mints no longer sold through retail stores? In the last few months I haven't been able to find them in any of our local stores. I've checked Kroger, Meijer, and a local independent grocery. Nothing on their website, though it looks like it hasn't been updated recently.

0 calories, but not a low calorie food--how can this be?

Why are Ice Breakers sours "not a low calorie food" when their nutrition facts list 0 calories? So, I was looking at a package of Ice Breakers Sours mints, which are sugar free, and on the front, right under "Sugar-free" it says "Not a low calorie food." However, the nutrition facts state that there are 0 calories. How can this be?

Minty Fresh, Freezing Cold

Why does eating mints make drinks taste freezing cold? I've always been intrigued that, when I chew some minty gum or eat a Certs, then take a swig of water, it tastes freezing even if it is room temperature. I assume it follows a similar property of brushing your teeth and drinking juice, but don't know how it specifically relates to mints and water. Googlefu is failing me on this one.

Penguin Mints Cinnamons - non-caffeinated tastealikes?

OralFixationFilter: Until recently, I had a steady habit of those caffeinated delights, Penguin Mints--specifically the 'Cinnamons' variety. I love the way they taste, but am looking to cut back on my caffeine intake.

So I'm wondering: can anyone recommend a brand or variety of cinnamon mints ('cinnamints'? Not too up on my candy terminology) which would taste similar but not have any caffeine?
