I have a deeply nostalgic love for my grandparents' former home, a generic but beloved split level they lived in from the 1950s to mid 2000s. As an artist and crafter with an obsessive love for details, I have long noodled with the idea of making an incredibly accurate recreation of the house in miniature... but I struggle with where to start. Architectural models, dollhouses? What is the best route forward? [more inside]

My daughter and I are building a birdhouse that is a scale model of our real house out of 1/4" plywood. I have the pieces cut, and could assemble them now if I wanted to. I'm waiting because I want to reasonably replicate the siding, and I'm not sure how to proceed. [more inside]

Let's say you have a miniature ironsides cannon, about the size of a medium terrier and quite heavy, capable of firing. Let's say it looked something like the second cannon from the top here
. Let's say you were setting this cannon off to celebrate the Fourth of July or something and just wanted a big boom. What would you load the cannon with, and how would you load it? [more inside]

You know those miniature dioramas you sometimes find in Chinese restaurants, the ones made out of something like bamboo shavings (?), usually scenes of some trees, a bridge and a small temple or gazebo, set in a little glass box/frame?
My Google-fu is weak - my young son is disappoint (he would love one for his birthday)... [more inside]

[gamefilter] Best, fast to play, naval or space miniatures (tabletop) simulation? Supports lots of players, time period irrelevant, won't take all night. Fussy details inside. [more inside]

A pair of tiny dollhouse-sized keys with teeth that are obviously made to fit a specific lock. Has anyone else ever seen these? [more inside]

I'm building my friend a diorama (for lack of a better word) for Christmas, and I need suggestions on models.
I've picked out this pretty bad assed dwarf
(please don't buy out the remaining stock, I need to order it tonight still). Now I need to find something suitably awesome for it to be fighting.
Any suggestions you have would be awesome.
I also need to find a kick butt female dwarf, but all the minis I've found so far are either 90% breast, or awfully bad looking. [more inside]

Does anyone know where I can find plans for building a gallows? I want to build a miniature gallows for hanging plush pandas on stage with my band.
