US Navy related charities for a Memorial Gift

The son of a dear friend passed away unexpectedly yesterday, from complications following minor surgery. This young man was serving in the US Navy on a sub, and now we are looking for a Navy-related charity we could make a donation to in memory of this young man. Suggestions?

Help with the text of a poem about the disparity between funding for education and the military?

I'm looking for the text of a poem/ statement that was printed on tea towels (where I saw it but could very well also be elsewhere) about how governments are willing to spend millions on armies and navies but schools have to hold cake stalls to provide basic services. The tea towels were popular among my friends' hippy parents in Canberra, Australia in the early- to mid-80s and were possibly printed by the Nuclear Disarmament Party, but just as likely found elsewhere. I've searched with all the terms I can think of but can't find the text. Can you help? Thanks.

What's It like to fly above the world at mach?

Military/FictionFilter: I look at my western skyline at dusk and see lines of contrails everywhere. I've been in planes flying all over the world and seen all sorts of sights at dusk, but what's it like to see that from a military jet sending out those trails at whatever speed? Personal details would be nice, but suggestions from established fiction would be fine. Details aren't necessary - I dont want to plagarize anything, I just want an impression for a short piece of fiction.

Seabag a uniform?

Is the military seabag itself considered part of a uniform, such that a retiree is forbidden by the UCMJ to use it except for ceremonies and official functions? The one I was issued when I enlisted has tons more capacity than any other pack I currently possess, but I'd rather not break regulations even in such a way that is unlikely to be prosecuted. I'm several years out of the service, now, so I can't pose the question to my chain of command.
