I used a midwife throughout my pregnancy but ended up with an emergency c-section. My insurance company has denied part of the claim leaving me about $3,400 poorer. I'd like to recoup as much of this as possible from my health insurance but I'm not sure the best way to go about it... [more inside]

My chosen midwife is out-of-network for my insurance company. She also costs less than the deductible for out-of-network providers. Should I still bill my insurance company? [more inside]

The midwife who was incredible at our sons birth two days ago is going to Haiti for a week to work with a group of doctors.
She has been told she has to bring everything she needs for her own support.
We would like to give her a gift before she goes, perhaps something she might need and would not think of.
Any thoughts form the hive appreciated.

Looking for an OB/Gyn in or near the Chattanooga, TN area that is knowledgeable (or willing to learn) about PCOS and open-minded about nonstandard births.
Alternately, looking for any feedback from folks who have used the midwifery services of Ina Mae Gaskin or the other midwives at "The Farm". [more inside]
