I was just working on a proofreading file for hours. I closed it, thinking I had been saving it (I'm pretty sure I was saving it!). Then I went to email it , and it's nowhere to be found on my computer. I searched for it. I thought that if you don't save something it will be recovered when you open Word again, but nope. And I can't find it on my computer anywhere. Does anywhere have an idea where it could have gone and how/if I can get it back?!

The default dictionary in Word 2003 is burdened by slow response time from the query server @ Microsoft. We're fed up with it in our corporate environment. Does anyone know a third-party app that integrates well with Word 2003?

I've just bought a Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Keyboard 7000
, which comes with the matching mouse (8000). It works great with my Windows XP computer, as long as the computer is on. Once I switch the computer off and attempt to restart, the Bluetooth connection is lost and the computer won't start, citing the lack of a keyboard as the reason. Only by repeatedly fiddling and resynching can I get the computer started up. Can anyone suggest how I bond these three devices in permanent holy matrimony?

MS Excel Problem: CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP?
I am a very average PC user having unable to open spreadsheets. I borrowed a copy of MS Office Professional from a friend, but it did not install Excel properly. I no longer have access to those installation CDs. Whenever I try to open a spreadsheet, it prompts me for the CD's. So I bought Excel 97, installed it fine, but still when I try o open a spreadsheet it automatically tries to open it with the XP Professional version... How so I get around this to just use the Excel 97 version now on my computer??

[Word Filter] I have a Word document consisting of a giant table with columns such as last name, first name, address, etc. Is there a way to extract the table data to another document in such a way that I preserve the order of the information, but lose the cells, rows and columns? Whenever I try to cut and paste, I end up just taking the table with me - exactly what I DON'T want to do...

I've got two columns in MS Excel. They each share 200 numbers. However, one of the columns has an additional 700 numbers. I want the column with 900 sorted in ascending order, with like numbers from the column of 200 beside those in the column of 900. How do I do that?

Microsoft Access: I might be asked to use Access to get information from a series of online EU databases, merge them and produce a series of reports. I know very little about this, and would have to get up to speec very quickly as the reports are time critical, and if they are not done well, there would be problems for the NGO who have approached me. Could anyone recommend some low cost books or other resources that could help me?

I have a WinXp machine with three hard drives, each one holding 100GB. I'm researching backup alternatives, and there are tons these days (tape drives, external firewire drives, jazz drives, etc.). I'd like to find a solution that strikes a nice balance between ease of use, cost and durability. Any suggestions?
