Is it illegal to use 700MHz frequency for microphones now? What is the situation regarding the 700MHz range? Is anyone actually using it, or has it just been auctioned off? Has anyone had any troubles using it?

I need to amplify the sound of a carbon arc in a WW2 era searchlight. The mic will be inside the drum of the searchlight, about 25" away from the arc. The temperatures at that distance should be 500F or less. Are there any microphones that will operate happily at that kind of temperature? [more inside]

Calling my fellow PS3 owners! Do the PS3 Singstar microphones work with the PS3 versions of Guitar Hero: World Tour and the Rockband games?
