What webcam or camcorder should I buy for my videocast?

I may run it as a youtube channel or as a vlog, but I want it to look and sound as good as possible. I intend to edit each episode with some yet to be determined video editing software and I am 90% sure I will be buying the Samson C01U microphone (possibly the whole podcasting pak).

What currently available video cameras will record to a commonly viewable digital format (ie. something Quicktime supports with no additional add-ons) AND has a microphone input jack? [more inside]

I'm in need of expert video equipment and editing software recommendations. I need to purchase a videocam primarily for recording tutorials. 50% of the shooting will be in an office setup focused mainly on the speaker sitting at a desk, 50% will be in a shop filming welding type machinery.
