Find a cast list for The Radio City Orchestra

Help me play internet detective...I am trying to find a list of the members of The Radio City Orchestra from around January of 2009. My co-worker found a micro-SD card on the subway platform and gave it to me since she knows my phone uses that type. I checked out the card and found it loaded with over 150 photos from the previous owner and a good number of them are pictures of the owner’s new baby.

I have been trying to play internet detective, but am coming up short so far. I have a number of first names but nothing really helpful “uncle mike”, “aunt Sarah”, and the baby’s name “Cole”. The best lead from the pictures is that the owner plays the French horn and was “Horn 2” in The Radio City Orchestra. The meta data on the photos was also a wash, just the phone type (A LG)

I had though about trying to call Radio City Music Hall and talking to someone there but I’m just afraid my request will be a bit vague and come off as stalker-ish (“I am looking for the blond woman who played the French horn…No, I don’t know her name but I know she had a baby back at the beginning of the year”.)

I don't really mind investing a little time into this project, because I know if nothing else I would like my photos back if I had lost them.

Any ideas would be welcome, I guess I could throw a few of the picts up on flickr but I already know they live/work in NYC and what not so I don't know how much help that would be.

Ho to make photoshop save photos?

How can I save JPG images in Photoshop CS so that a digital camera can read them? Cheap crappy software can do this easily, but no matter what file settings I use in Photoshop, I've never been able to get any of my digital cameras to be able to read any JPG that was written by Photoshop - I have to load and re-save them with other piece of software to get them to work. Surely there is a way to make Photoshop save JPG files that cameras can read? My impression is that (naming conventions and so forth aside) there is a JPEG standard that most or nearly all cameras read, rather than every camera having it's own random special requirements.

I want a way to start saving files in that standard, because I'll be using a camera as an image storage/display device, and want to load the memory card with images and graphics in addition to photos it has taken, but right now, I have to individually process each file to do this, or the camera won't read it, and it's driving me nuts.
(I also don't want to save as RAW or TIFF)

Thanks!

Help me photograph Israel without changing memory cards every five seconds!

I need a new Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo for my cameras, but have no idea where the best place to buy any more is. Also any particular size recommendations or is bigger better? In preparation for this summer's trip, I need more memory cards for my Sony digital cameras. I'm looking for the Pro Duo My google-fu is good and I know about Google shopping but being unfamiliar with most of the stores, I don't know which are reputable. I've had bad experiences in the past with unknown websites and don't want to get caught with a non functioning memory card while away, though I know that's a risk with electronics as things can be lemons.

The last two times I needed memory cards I:
a) asked a friend who worked at Sony who got it with her discount (she no longer works there)
b) needed it "now" because I was using my camera and realised I didn't have the memory card so I walked into the local BestBuy.

I have some time (trip is mid-July) and have no issue with ordering online, but I don't know where to start. Is there a particular online vendor you know to be reputable? Any you suggest staying away from?

Also - any thoughts on how big is too big? I'll either be bringing my laptop or have access to my mom's so I'm not looking to store the whole trip on there - I'm a shutter bug - but I also don't want to be flipping memory cards constantly i.e. at Petra. Cameras are 5.0 and 7.2 megapixels, but I don't tend to take fine quality photos. When I do, they're the exception for a few photos.

NB: yes I know, there are newer and better cameras out there and Sony media is not ideal. Mine are 4 and 2 years old, respectively, but they suit my purposes fine and I don't have the budget for a new camera at this time so it is what it is.

As always, thanks for all your help.

How can I make my camera take pictures faster?

How can I make my camera take pictures faster? I have a Canon PowerShot A720 (8 megapixel). We've had the camera for about a year and love it.

The camera has a setting for pets/children, which is supposed to allow you to take pictures in rapid succession. But, there's a 6 or 7 second lag between when I take a picture and when I can take the next one.

I have the camera set to take photos at 800x600, so they aren't huge images to be saved. Plus, we download the pictures off the camera every few days, so it's not as if the card has a lot on it (15-20 pictures at a clip).

My Googling is inferior, so I'm wondering if it has to do with the memory card. We have a 1GB ScanDisk. Would a larger capacity card make a difference? Or a different brand?

Appreciate any info to help me get cuter shots of my son actually facing me instead of my rapidly growing collection of photos of the back of his head.

Please help me reach out to the person who found our memory card!

What would you do if you found a memory card? Have you found our memory card in Rome, Italy? We've lost our Sony memory card in Rome, Italy, during our vacation at the end of July. It probably fell out of our bag while sitting on the benches on Piazzale Ugo La Malfa, near Circo Massimo. It was in its plastic encasing, so it's fairly protected and a bit easier to spot than 'just' a memory card. We probably lost it on the 25th of July.*
I know the odds of the card being found are slim and the odds of retrieving it are even slimmer, but I really have to try for my own piece of mind.

So, if you're a Roman/Italian and found a memory card, what would you do?
Or, if you're a tourist in Rome and found a memory card, what would you do?

On which Italian or English websites/forums/boards would you post? Which site with advertisements do I have to keep an eye on? Where could I place advertisements myself? Would you bring it to the police (and how can I contact them if that's the case)? What is the Italian equivalent to Craigslist?

I want to maximize the odds that if there is indeed someone trying to find the owner of our memory card, he will be able to find us.
I'm already keeping an eye on Found Cameras and Orphan Pictures and I've posted an ad on The Found Bin and Lost and found now.

Last part of my question:
Can you help me write a short Italian version of this question I could post on the Roman Craigslist? The contact information you should mention is lostandfoundinrome at hotmail dot com.

Of course, I will gladly offer a reward to the person who finds the memory card!

Grazie mille!

*If any Roman living in the neighbourhood happens to feel very warm-hearted and compassionate and would be willing to go look on the Piazzale, he/she would earn my eternal gratitude and some great Belgian sweets!

Format Error! Images Lost! Recovered Giant MPG! WTF?!

At the end of a badass and beautiful backpacking trip, my digital camera's memory card suddenly read "format error." My camera is a dinosaur Sony Cybershot with merely 3.2 megapixels. I downloaded Photorec and tried to recover the photos, but all I ended up with was a 13.9 Meg mpg file... But I can't do anything with that mpg file. I have to admit a complete technological ignorance...operations of this sort are bewildering to me.

Anyone have any ideas? Are my images somehow recovered onto that mpg file? Is there any way to access them? HELP!!!!

What are some good uses for spare smaller capacity SD and CF cards?

What are some good uses for spare smaller capacity SD and CF cards? I assume that I'm not the only one who has an accidental collection of smallish capacity memory cards at home gathering dust. That 32MB CF that Canon so graciously included with my camera a few years ago, plus the-oh-my-God-expensive-at-the-time 512MB SD that I had to have for my PDA in 2004, not to mention the pair of now-not-so-Ultra 256meg CF cards I had to have to feed my now-replaced DSLR... you get the picture.

I now have adequate numbers 4GB and 8GB CF and SDHC cards for use with my current crop of devices, but it'd be a waste to discard the small capacity cards, and no one seems to want them, given the price that 1GB+ cards go for on eBay. So, what are some suggestions for using these things fruitfully?

Help me un-corrupt my corrupted images.

Can you suggest a free image recovery software for corrupted images? Bonus question: is my flash card boned? The images show up in thumbnail (same as a question from 2005), but attempts to get them off the card have... not been fruitful. Namely, the error message reads: Cannot copy DSC__###: The parameter is incorrect.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm hoping that in the two years since that last question was posted, some kid has made an open-source data retrieval software, and that you could point me to it.

A google search tells me that I should be formatting the card on my D50 soon, and testing it's reliability for quiiite some time after that (hundreds of photos of my front curtains, perhaps), but are there any 'warning signs' I can watch out for to tell if the card itself has gotten boned?

Save my vacation

I need software/service/help for recovering files from my camera's corrupted memory card. 300 photos from my trip to Spain. Poof.

I'm using a Mac, the camera's a Panasonic FZ7, and I do not have ready access to a Windows or Linux machine. Disk Warrior appears to be of no avail (Not using a separate card reader, just the camera's USB connection). Anything I can try from the command line or anything like that?
FWIW, when I first mounted this on my desktop, there were two directories with files—PANA_100 and PANA_101 (normally there's only PANA_100). There were a lot of blank files in the second directory, six files in the first, of which only one (the first) was readable. Now I only see PANA_100.

Is my SanDisk card borked? Help me troubleshoot.

Troubleshooting a SanDisk 2GB card, is it broken or is there another problem? I bought a SanDisk 2GB card via mail order from ZipZoomFly.com. I put it in my camera [Canon SD400] and took a few pictures, no problem. I tried to put it into my USB card reader which I have used with all my previous cards and got an error [OSX 10.4] which said that my disk couldn't be read, did I want to initialize it? I said no and got the pictures off of my camera via the cable. Then I tried to initialize the card and got an I/O error. I can't do anything with the card using OSX's disk repair -- I ran a checksum but anything else gets an I/O error -- and when I put the card back into my camera I now get a "memory card error" message and can't format it or otherwise use it. This happens when I use it in other cameras, not just mine. My camera also uses other SanDisk cards with no problem.

So, are there any troubleshooting steps that I should try, or is this card just borked? Is there anything about the card being a 2GB card that might be a problem with the camera/card reader?
