Any good, scientifically-accurate media on retrograde amnesia?

Open to fiction and nonfiction; books, documentaries, podcast episodes, news articles, etc. Nothing that puts me to sleep, please. Would prefer newer works informed by the latest science and works that are more personal, emotional, and detailed, rather than removed, dry, and general. Also, while I realize anterograde amnesia is much more common, I'm really only interested in retrograde amnesia. What caused the RA does not matter.

Not my bed filter: memory foam/smaller mattress survival tips?

For the next week, my partner and I will have to sleep on queen/full sized memory foam mattresses. Both are (as far as I can tell) reasonably high quality products, but A) I'm a stomach sleeper who hates memory foam, and B) partner is a flailer who moves around a lot. We normally sleep on a latex foam king. I'd like to be decently rested so I'm not a grumpy holiday houseguest. Hope me? [more inside]

On losing my way...with words.

I used to be a decent writer growing up. I could write things in two hours that would take other people weeks while in school. Ideas.... mental outlines... of what a certain piece of writing would look and sound like would spontaneously form in my head, sometimes down to specific wording. Suddenly, I would get a burst of energy and write until there was nothing left. Now even writing an email feels like pulling teeth. What's wrong with me? YANMD. [more inside]

Tricks for remembering names and context

I have a problem with remembering people's names. I've read previous posts on the topic and generally I can smilingly apologise and say, "Hey, I'm sorry but I am terrible with names." But my bigger problem is that I meet people in many contexts that don't overlap and all require various levels of professionalism. I don't mind apologising for forgetting their name, but to then add, "...and how do we know each other?" is veering into rudeness. Suggestions?

Learning to Read at a Higher Level

I apologize if this question may seem silly, but I read a lot and I notice that I don't recall what I've read very well. My usual technique for reading clinical books is that I highlight what I think is important and then I go back and take notes on what I have highlighted. I can definitely highlight too much and it makes going back very time consuming. Is there a better way of going through a book and taking notes on it? It seems like my old method is not working very well. [more inside]

Amazing feats of memory tricks - do they really work?

Medical Coding: In over my head?

I've been taking the American Assoc. of Professional ( Coders' CPC-H certification course in medical coding for facilites. To be perfectly honest, I did this on a whim (I spent all of two days researching "start-from-scratch" career paths, thinking that was the only way to go for someone in my position). I liked the idea of a decent salary after taking a six-month long course and doing a year or so of internships. It seemed to be my key to validation as a productive adult. I'm taking a numerical methods class and there are all these discretization schemes of partial differential equations named after pairs of dudes and they all are kinda the same, maybe a bit different in indexes.... I'm trying to organize it all in my head, like a frat house, with the dudes that worked on the same scheme being roommates, but it seems to be taking a long time to actually "find" a place for each scheme in their "rooms" and keeping it there in a sort of visual arrangement.
