A friend runs a small professional organization with about 60-80 members, and is looking for a way to more easily manage membership. She is hoping to find software or a web service designed to do these things:
- Most importantly: allow members to pay an annual membership fee online. She also needs to be able to look up who has paid and who hasn't.
- Allow members to log in and update contact information and other info (such as number of accredited hours).
- Email all members, download a list of members, and so on.
Right now members are paying by cheque through the mail, and it's a lot of paperwork. I imagine there is an inexpensive web service out there that would be perfect for this. Can you recommend anything? We're in Canada, if it matters. Thanks!

We are a small language instruction company with an idea to make some extra revenue and promote our own website.
We want to create a wordpress membership site that users can subscribe to with daily dripped content.
My question is whether it's a good idea to integrate this into our existing website or should it have it's own domain. And are there any technical problems that could arise from the integration idea?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I work with a local non-profit advocacy organization that is working on changing behaviors (promoting walking & biking in town). We charge for membership, but recently someone suggested we expand our membership by making it a pay-what-you-can
(or want) sort of system and possibly we would have more cash and volunteers to work with. Can someone point me to articles/books/anything about how has worked for other non-profits or businesses?

I’m interested in getting a subscription/membership to a museum or similar location in the Boston area as a gift. I’m really looking for something that would appeal to a younger adult without kids who likes a broad range of cultural activities. I’ve considered the Museum of Science and the Museum of Fine Arts, but I’d love to hear first hand impressions of those and get other suggestions. It doesn’t have to be a museum specifically (could be, say, a theater subscription), but I'd like to keep it under $150ish and it does have to be MBTA accessible and let in at least 2 adults.

Are you a member of Society for Neuroscience or ASBMB or FASEB or something similar? I have a doctorate in biochemistry/pharmacology. I've completely left academia and work at a small biotech firm as a scientist. I don't want to permanently narrow my field of interest, so I thought it would be helpful to become a member of one of the science societies and/or attend some conference(s) separately from those that come up for my job. I'm having trouble deciding on what would be the most efficient and enjoyable option. [more inside]

What's currently the best plug-in (paid or free) for setting up/moderating a membership-based level to an already existing web site? I'm not a programmer, so preferably something that's relatively easy to set up, looks good to the eye, is easy to navigate and offers nice customizing options. I'm using Wordpress right now, so one that works with wp would be *most* awesome. Oh, and I'm on a Mac. Thanks!!! :)

Looking at options to create a membership card for discounts at businesses, similar to a KCRW Fringe Benefits card. I haven't done this before so I'm not sure about which membership card manufacturers would be good to order from or about how the card technology itself works. Right now, getting the businesses and customers to cooperate is the easy part for me... I need to figure out how to make the card work and to be sure I can keep track of all member activity. Educate me please, if you can! Thank you! :)

I have recently been appointed the 'membership chair' for a hobby-related organization of which I have been a member for some years. The club president and I have agreed that my duties will consist largely of:
* Contacting members who have lapsed and inviting them to rejoin
* Devising various means of recruiting new members
I have no experience in this sort of work. I could definitely use pointers, suggestions, and especially referrals to any articles or books that may be relevant.

Ideally, I'd like to buy a membership that doesn't expire and allows me to use any Gold's Gym. I don't care if it is transferable. I would appreciate any information you might have on the matter.

I need to join a gym, and haven't belonged to one since a Y membership in 1996. Apparently, gyms don't tell you what they charge unless you go meet a sales rep in person. This seems extremely shady and sets off mental warning bells. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Forewarned is forearmed, etc.
(Auxillary question, possibly whinefilter; how do they get away with this? Why can't I comparison shop in a reasonable manner?)
