What are the most fun things to do in Melbourne on holiday? I've got 4 days as a solo female traveller in my 30s. I'm not into footy but open to shopping, good places to eat (cheaply), cultural things and tourist attractions. Inspire me!

I have inherited a watch that was purchased a few years ago for about $2000. It has rarely been worn and I think it has all of the box/paperwork with it (from what I can see from similar watches online), including the purchase receipt. My question is where/how can I sell it? Either by listing it online, but there seems to be so many websites, or in person via a second hand dealer or similar?
I've seen lots of watch websites, but are some better than others? Especially considering I don't have a profile or history on such sites. Thanks

What should I do with one day in Melbourne? I'm going to the Golden Plains Festival
next weekend, but I'm arriving a day early so I have a whole Friday in Melbourne with nothing to do. I've already been to the ACMI and The Espy, and I've got plans for the night.
I like old books, videogames, pinball, and neat bars.

Does anyone know any sections of rivers or creeks not too far out of Melbourne (Australia) that are very wide yet quite shallow? You know the type, like something you see in a documentary about Alaskan bears with pebbles on the bottom and crystal clear water. After swimming in an amazing river in West Virginia may years ago I've dreamed about finding a similar one over here.

I'm traveling with friends to Australia in March, and this will be the first time I've left North America! I'm covered on basic travel requirements (passport, ETA, etc), but what else should I bring with me? What should I know (about traveling, about Australia... anything!)? [more inside]

In Friday's issue of The Australian
, the Entrepreneur
lift-out had an article about two (Melbourne?) investment bankers who fell foul of the GFC then started their own clothing business, based on a wildly successful business model from France - something about factory seconds, or end-of-season stuff from high-end labels. I think they have something like 250,000 subscribers, and last month they turned over a million bucks. What was the name of the Melbourne start-up and what was its French inspiration?

I have jumped on an opportunity to take a vacation on the sunny beaches of Australia (insert mixup of seasons joke here). I am leaving in three weeks, and staying for six. However, I have run into a problem: my American passport expires two weeks before I return (though after I leave). [more inside]

My family and I will be in Australia from March 14th, 2008 to the 26th. We'll be staying in Sydney for most of the trip (friends' apartment) but we also want to take a leisurely road trip to Melbourne. Do you have any recommendations what to do in Sydney, Melbourne and during the roadtrip? [more inside]
