I'm trying to find a list of US medical residency programs and the average step 1 scores of the applicants that are accepted into each program. Google has not been helpful. I've found match rates, quotas, test scores by specialty, and all sorts of other data. But nothing about test scores by residency program.
Does anyone know if this data exists and where I can find it?
Thanks in advance.
Leaving academia and going into medicine: when to jump ship? [more inside]
I had a rough start to medical school academically. People keep telling me that if I "do well" here on out, it "shouldn't matter" in four years when I apply to the next stage in my training (residency). That's easy for them to say, but I need more perspective than that. I'm bothered that it could put a "ceiling" on what I might be able to achieve otherwise. Those who have experience with medical education and academics, please give me your thoughts! [more inside]
I've just started medical school and the emphasis on group work is overwhelming me. I know that medicine is generally a team-oriented profession. I have certainly worked well in teams before, and found it enjoyable. I am affable and pulling my own weight is never an issue. Still, the fact that I have to work in a group for four hours a day, five days a week, is draining me like no other. I am angsty and tired. Please, fellow introverts and independent workers, especially those who are familiar with medical education -- how might you approach working in a heavily team-oriented environment? Details inside. Accepted at multiple medical schools. Now facing the choice of which one to attend and how to weigh the different price tags. If you are in med school now or have made it through to the other side, what factors do you recommend considering? How much debt is reasonable and has it impacted your career? I'm potentially interested in becoming a primary care (family) physician. My career so far has had nothing to do with medicine. I need to figure out if this interest is legitimate or just a phase. Can you help me find resources I can use to decide if this is something I really want to pursue, or just a fantasy? [more inside]
