I don't show pain very well (if at all), and this leads to problems with doctors. But if I
try to show how much pain I'm in, it comes off as false and that leads to different difficulties.

I'm looking for a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation service in New York City to take my 83-year-old father to appointments for radiation treatment. I've done some searching on the web, and based on some recent information, many of them seem to be a bit scammy. Does anyone know of a reputable service he could use? He's ambulatory, but moves slowly due to serious arthritis.

Iknowyou'renotmydoctorfilter: I have been sick since Thursday. No fever now(It was 102.5 then) but it still hurts to swallow and my lymphnodes under my jaw hurt and are swollen. I called my doc and wound up on VOICE MAIL so am not even going to try to get in to see her.

I don't understand why health care suddenly costs so damn much. I can understand a few factors - nurses' pay has gone up, new treatments are more expensive (and doctors prescribe more expensive treatments - sometimes
unnecissarily) but these factors don't seem to explain how insanely costly health care has become. And where is all that money going? Again, I understand that CEO pay has skyrocketed in the last 20 years, but is that enough to explain the enormous cost of health care these days?

MEDICAL INSURANCE: I'm getting some for the first time in 8 years. Clearly I should have at least catastrophic, but help me decide whether having more is worth the cost. Also: any opinions about HealthyNY insurance?

Is there somewhere online--maybe a government site--where you can check the credentials of U.S. doctors? (As in, have they been sued 20 times for malpractice, where did they go to med school, etc.) When I search for something like that, I get spambot hell and/or paid services. I need to go to a specialist and don't have the luxury of knowing enough people here to get a recommendation.
