New job selling laboratory equipment, but have no lab/science experience

I recently accepted a sales position within a company that sells laboratory equipment. (i.e. centrifuges, GC's, HPLC's, Thermal Cyclers, etc) I have no previous lab or science experience, so learning about a myriad of highly technical products/methods is a quite challenging. My main challenge comes from the fact that I need to engage in conversations with scientists, chemists, biologists on a daily basis. With no previous lab experience, I've been having a hard time talking to them on technical level. [more inside]

iphones needed for medical outreach in Ecuador

I volunteer with Cinterandes in Ecuador, a humanitarian effort that goes to remote areas and performs surgeries for people who can't access services otherwise. They use iphones for tele-medicine applications and are looking for donations of older version iphones. They could use 20 more. Is there a place where I can post a request for such donations that would reach a large number of iphone users? They have a 501.c.3 presence in Miami where phones can be sent.

I wish for socialized medicine.

I went to the ER. The doctor claims to not honor my insurance's discount. My insurance claims the doctor is in network and should honor it. I did not pay the difference and it has now gone to collections. The collections agency said I signed an agreement to pay all fees, so I'm on the hook for this amount. (But I obviously disagree.) How should I proceed? [more inside]

Botox injections and neutropenia

Are there risks in having botox injections for a neutropenia sufferer? A relation of mine is determined to have botox injections to get rid of wrinkles, however, they suffer badly from cyclic neutropenia which means that their immune system is often weak and have white blood cell issues and consequently they get infections frequently. I am aware that botox is botulinum toxin and I have kept trying to persuade her to see her doctor before having botox injections, to check whether they are safe for her in light of neutropenia. She is desperate to go ahead with this and it is hard to persuade her to get medical advice on this. From a layman's perspective, I am concerned that this may be dangerous for her. Does anybody with medical knowledge, perhaps haematology, know if this botox is safe for neutropenia sufferers? Many thanks!
