I'm only 27. How can I keep my hair from thinning out?

I'm a 27 year old male. I've noticed my hair has been thinning out and receding my hairline over the last year. Is there anything I can do to keep it sticking around for a while longer? I didn't expect to be witnessing this before I'm 30. Can a doctor help?

Botox injections and neutropenia

Are there risks in having botox injections for a neutropenia sufferer? A relation of mine is determined to have botox injections to get rid of wrinkles, however, they suffer badly from cyclic neutropenia which means that their immune system is often weak and have white blood cell issues and consequently they get infections frequently. I am aware that botox is botulinum toxin and I have kept trying to persuade her to see her doctor before having botox injections, to check whether they are safe for her in light of neutropenia. She is desperate to go ahead with this and it is hard to persuade her to get medical advice on this. From a layman's perspective, I am concerned that this may be dangerous for her. Does anybody with medical knowledge, perhaps haematology, know if this botox is safe for neutropenia sufferers? Many thanks!

I just don't want to be "the girl with the messed up hand" for the next two months.

I have De Quervain’s tenosynovitis. I have to wear a brace on my wrist for the next long while. All the braces I've found are hideous and scream "SMPA is injured and has no style," which is taking me right back to that time when I was a kid in school and I'm hating it (and don't get me started on the bowling jokes at work.) Are there functional yet cute or pretty braces out there? What is the solution to this, besides "suck it up, you should have paid more attention to ergonomics?" [more inside]

Pre-existing condition technicality

My wife just purchased health insurance for herself. Today is her first day of coverage. She has been experiencing back pain and nerve pain in her leg for the better part of a week, however. If she goes to the doctor today and they send her for an MRI (which we're certain they will) and subsequently decide to do surgery (we think she has a slipped/bulging/herniated disc) is there a chance the claims processor at the insurance company will question paying for any of these services? The Mystery of the Cold Kidneys.

What could be the reason behind cold kidneys in an otherwise healthy person? Mr. Origami has cold kidneys, and has all his life, so has never given it much thought. He can be warm all over, but place a hand over the kidney area and it feels icy cold--and that's really the only time he notices it, when a normally warm hand or belly covers the area, or if he sits in a hot tub, and he's flushed with warmth. How do foreign visitors find a local doctor in the USA?

I'd like to have a regular doctor or medical practice so that I don't need to visit a hospital emergency room for something minor. We have travel insurance, and most of our party will be US citizens.

Atypical Glandular Cells of Undetermined Significance

My wife's PAP just came back showing "atypical glandular cells of undetermined significance". We are both concerned, and I'm having a hard time finding any useful information about what this is likely to mean in terms of prognosis, treatment, etc... So far, everything I've found has been either too superficial to be helpful or too dense to understand. Can anyone point us to some fairly in-depth information that won't overwhelm us with medical-speak? At this point, we're both scared, and any information at all would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
