Lean and Mean

Help a skinny guy shape up! more after the jump! some facts:

i do some sports, used to jog almost every day (although in the past few weeks ive slacked off)

I eat a lot, but i dont eat healthily (i.e. no fruit and veg)
A typical week would see me eating meat pretty much every day with pasta or potatoes. Fast food (mcdonalds/burger king) is also consumed at least once a week . I drink a lot of unhealthy sugary drinks and fruit juices. Greasy meatloaf or full english for breakfast (ocasionally) .

I need a goal and results. Im pretty lazy, and slack off if i dont see results, but can get very motivated if it's a foolproof plan and i see results after a while.

Right now i want to put on some weight, yes also fat, because i look pretty skinny. I dont know if that's advisable, or if i should just look at starting with a tabula rasa and gaining muscle mass (which would probably be more difficult).

I have mild scoliosis, which affects my posture a bit and makes me slouch. I try to work actively against slouching by pushing my upper chest forward and my stomach in. is that the correct thing to do? I think gaining weight, especially muscle, would help my posture too, right?

I have a fast metabolism, i think, so what should i do guys?

How do I make this awesome looking meatloaf?

I was just idly googling for "meatloaf leek" trying to find a recipe to make for dinner, when I found this stock photo. FANCY! Unfortunately I can't find a recipe for it at all. How would you go about making something like that? It looks like a fairly normal meatloaf, topped with bacon. I'm guessing (based on the title) that's a carrot stuck in a leek buried in the middle. Can any of you find an actual recipe for it? Or, failing that, have any ideas or spot any potential pitfalls?

What do you think it'll do to the cooking time, to have something stuck in the middle like that?

The Perfect Meatloaf

Fill in the blank: "The secret of great meatloaf is ___________." I have a reason for asking. The general recipe for everyday, mundane, every-gramma-made-it, I-know-a-great-truckstop, Norman Rockwell Americana meatloaf is pretty straightforward. Yeah, we all have our little tweaks and variations -- but the basic recipe seems rather simple.

But I ALWAYS mess it up. Generally, what comes out of the oven is more suited to build housing. Am I using too many eggs? Not enough? Too much kneading? Too many crumbs? More veggies? Maybe a lower grade hamburger? Maybe a higher grade? Add glaze from start? Wait 'til it's almost done? How do I know when it's done?

I have all the ingredients assembled and I plan to start cooking tomorrow morning. Any last minute advice would be muchly appreciated.

Points for tradition. I'm sure Habanero Loaf with Banana glaze is wonderful -- but that's not what I'm after.

It's a meatloaf...in the shape of a turkey.

Help me find a baking mold in the shape of a life-sized roasted turkey. I want to make sculptures out of meatloaf. For an unorthodox Thanksgiving dinner, I want to make a big meatloaf. But for the kitsch factor, I want it to be baked in a mold the shape of a roasted turkey. You know, the traditional roasted turkey pose, like on a platter. I've searched everywhere for this, even ebay. Even ebay from other countries. I can only find small candy molds or plastic soap molds. And the only tukeys I can find are live, feathered turkeys.

If such a thing does not exist (and it has to!), I'd like to hire someone to make this for me. So leads on that would also be appreciated. I'm in the SF Bay Area.
