Please help me with my powerbook keyboard conundrum. Are you geniuser? Since March my powerbook g4 keyboard has been acting wonky.
In march some of the keys on the right end of the keyboard would'nt work.
The p, return, 0, \, and couple other over there as well. I had it replaced under applecare in late March. Come September the same issue is happening again so I had it replaced. My applecare has expired so I needed to pay out of pocket. The day I picked it up the same thing is happening. According to the genius the problem was the keyboard. I don't think so anymore.
It seems to work occasionally. eare are a few things I must do to get it to work properly.
I must zap the pram once. After that the keyboard works fine until the computer goes to sleep. After that the problem reappears so I must zap again.
I tried a simple restart three times but that did not solve the issue,I need to zap the pram.
Just a note here, in March, when the problem began, there were a couple more keys that did not work. Those keys were also on the same side of the keyboard.
Also my lower ram slot is not working.

Looking for resources to help me understand material from an intermediate microeconomics course. Notes, practice problems, simplified explanations, anything would help. I'm currently in enrolled in the first course of a series on 'intermediate microeconomics'. The professor's teaching style isn't working too well for me as he never really delves into the math outside of mere basic equations which aren't what I'm being tested on.

Are there any particularly good sites online that would help make this course easier? With each week, it seems as though I'm just falling further behind. The topics that were covered recently are...

Preference and utility functions, finding optimal consumption bundles (optimal choice), perfect compliments/substitutes, demand curves, the Slutsky equation/substitution effect, endowment, etc.

Or if anyone has advice on learning the material. I have a little over a week and a half before the next midterm to get my act together; anything helps.

Why did drinking tea + coffee make me feel very drained today? After eating an omelet in the morning, I had coffee afterwards and tea a couple of hours later. During the hour after that tea, I felt very drained and exhausted, and ravenously hungry. Usually tea and coffee don't make me feel that way, so I am wondering what went wrong today. I want to avoid this feeling of utter exhaustion and incredible hunger next time I imbibe caffeinated drinks. Any tips?

(P.S: In case you are wondering, the sensation of fatigue and listlessness disappeared after I ate. But that should be quite obvious anyway.)

Help me and my best friend waste our time more accurately

iGoogle Daily Me alternatives? So me and my best friend spend 10 mins a day updating our 'Daily Me' gadget on our iGoogle pages.

Daily Me is great because it lets us put a silly picture, a silly link, and a few random stories/updates right on each others iGoogle pages.

Daily Me sucks because it only accomodates a very small amount of text (and if you go over that amount, you'll get an error and possibly lose everything you just type). You have to guess how close to the limit you are. Also, once you change the Daily Me, your old version is lost forever.

Anyone have any alternative options for me that can:
1. Provide an inline picture (pulled from a link)
2. Allow for plenty of story telling
3. Archive old versions
4. Fit right in my iGoogle

Yes, we could do emails or use a different home page but we are both committed to Google.

A Cabin with a Kitchen?

My girlfriend and I are planning a weekend get away . The place we normally go for a quick break is booked the only weekend we have free this summer. Does anyone have any recommendations. This is what we are looking for: -A cabin/cottage that has space around it (rather than being right next to another cabin/cottage)
-Less than 3 hours outside Boston
-Less than $80 a night
-Has a kitchen with oven/burners (this is a must)
-Hopefully has a fireplace

We have checked out places online, but it is hard to really get a feel for a place based on pictures, review websites, or the owner's own description. That is why I am looking to you for a MeFi approved mini-vacation spot. And, I have searched the archives, and noted that people have asked similar questions.

I was at work the other day and I saw a promo on Turner Classic Movies. I really liked the music they used. I think it was a cover of a song called "Dance with me" by Lords of the New Church. Anyone else seen this or heard a good cover of it? If I had to guess I would have said it was by Cocorosie.

English grammar question: Which is grammatically correct, "If I were not myself" or "If I were not me"? Or is it "If I were not I"? It's a sentence that's rarely used, so the more I think about this, and the the more I check various grammar books and online sources, the more I become confused.

A few more:

"How to become myself" or "How to become me"?

"I play various roles of myself" or "...of me"?

"The 'me' who is too busy with her own life" or "The 'I' who is..."?

"The honest 'me' and the lying 'me' are both me" or "The honest 'I' and the lying 'I' are both I"?

I know some of these sentences sound awkward, and are perhaps better rewritten, but they're translations from Japanese and I'd like to keep them the way they are. They're variations of lines spoken in a movie about teenagers who are trying to find their identities as they grow up.

I suppose what all this boils down to is, is it "I am me" or "I am I" or "I am myself"?

As the Chicago Manual of Style says, "The verb “to be” acts as a linking verb, equating subject and object. (http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/CMS_FAQ/Pronouns/Pronouns09.html)
So "This is she" is correct and not "This is her," but the line is becoming fuzzy, is my understanding.

So in the cases above, which is correct? And would it be a big deal to the average native speaker of English if some of these were presented incorrectly as subtitles (i.e. so incredibly grammatically jarring as to take away from the experience of seeing the film)? Is there a big list (with general descriptions, optional) of jobs in the death industry? I'm coming up on year 6 of my job intended to be interim, and Dead Like Me has me somewhat inspired. I'd like something not involved with scalpels/fluids, but a list of mostly everything would be spiffy, regardless. And not this list.

Can something non-traumatic end up as PTSD-related trauma? I already have a diagnosis, I'm just very confused about something that's been happening lately. New therapist doesn't start until next month, so no luck there - and I'm somewhat nervous about bringing this up, because it seems so STUPID. Okay, so there's some background here. I have been diagnosed with PTSD, as well as a minor anxiety disorder separate from the PTSD. The details are probably largely unnecessary, but for a few points. (PTSD is from marital abuse, been divorced seven years now)

The guy I dated for five years between The Ex Husband and the Current Guy was a chronic snorer. Bad enough that it'd wake me up from a dead sleep. He was also largely uncooperative in dealing with it, and so I had many years of interrupted sleep.

The current guy is not a snorer, but has a cold this week and so was snoring a little last night, and despite him being cooperative in rolling over/moving/etc, the snoring would not cease. It was by no means even close to the mating-dinosaurs riding f-15 fighters and dueling with chainsaws of the previous Guy - more just a light whispery snore. In the light of day? It's almost cute.

However, in the middle of the night, all I could remember was nights of prodding and elbowing and kicking to get Previous Guy to roll over so I could get some sleep, and I ended up flipping out (not like a ninja), tossing the laundry off the couch and crashing there.

It felt like a panic attack, or a PTSD-related flashback (God, I hate that term). But... it was just snoring. Previous Guy wasn't a prince, but he's not Evil - just grossly neglectful. I didn't think that could bring about trauma like I felt like I was having.

So I've been doing a watch-a-thon of Dead Like Me (theme) and would really like to get my hands on one of those reaper costumes, but all the ones I've found all look really cheap. Where can I find the uber-est quality reaper costume, notably with the little point in the back of the cloak's headpiece/mantle/whatever? Any liklihood of actually getting one of those pieces from the actual show's main titles?

Help with the jealous dark side

Man I am a dumbass. I have a wonderful new boyfriend of about 6 months - who I absolutely truly adore - on the heels of surviving a really crappy five year marriage and divorce last year. Long story short, we were out over the weekend, drank a LOT, and he gave some (nice actually) girl that we were talking to a hug, told her that she felt "little and cute." I think the girl hugged me too. There was NOTHING lascivious there, he's just like that. Very warm person. Out of nowhere, I got very emotional. Told him that it upset me and we went 'round, tears and all. I am crazy about this guy, and really not a jealous person, this was deep, drunken, and came out of what seemed like nowhere from a dark place inside . We're cool, a little strained, it's weird things have been absolutley perfect up until this point, but no talk about putting the breaks on. I need help with two things one- how can I stop beating myself up over this and two-where in the hell did this jealousy come from? I really really like this guy...and we're cool, just mentally doing the equivalent of slapping my head with a shoe...I do not want to be a jealous person...

Getting a lease with an unpleasant background

MetaFilter landlords: Please help me aquire a lease... Three friends of mine & I are looking for a new place to live. They all have low paying jobs, but great credit. I have a high paying job, but atrocious credit and no recent rental history (I've lived in houses for the last 5 years without being on a lease). My friends keep getting rejected because they're poor, so I need to apply with them. A few questions to those of you who rent property out:

1) Is there anything that I can do to convince a landlord that, regardless of my poor credit and missing rental history, I am actually a good tenant with a stable job who has never once paid rent late or destroyed a house? Any bribes that would work?
2) What services do you use for background checks? I'm curious what's in mine.
3) If a place says "no application fees" does that mean that they don't do background checks?

Seeking Northeastern US towns with particular characteristics: This is for a project, so the towns need not be good places to live/visit or have lodging, dining, etc.

The characteristics I seek are: (and the towns must meet ALL criteria, but it's okay if only part of the town qualifies)
• sidewalks
• on-street parking
• people walking around on Friday nights in the summer
• houses close together
• houses close to the road
• houses intermixed with businesses.

Towns that meet this criteria: Essex, CT. Provincetown, MA. City Island, NY. Newport, RI. So far it seems that being a historical town and/or being in a desireable location often lead to the close-togetherness of buildings in a suitable way.

I am most interested in towns in CT and NY (near NYC), but I'm collecting a wider list as well!

Inaccessible Boot Drive

Windows tech support: Inaccessible Boot Drive. (more inside) Fortune has bestowed me with a shiny used Dell Dimension 8100. One catch: It has Windows ME for its OS. No problem, I thought-- I'll swap out the ME HD, and replace it with the HD on my last machine, where Win2K happily resides.

I didn't need to adjust the jumpers, since I was going from a single HD setup to another single HD setup. So I powered it up, the status bar on the bottom filled up, and along came the Win2K splash page. So far so good, and then the stop error happened: Inaccessible Boot Device. The error is well-documented in Google, but the solutions are conflicting and often above my station. What can I do to make the PC boot off of the Win2k HD?

Will upgrading my Vaio to XP wreck my settings?
