Tell me about running for mayor in (smalltown) Canada

Canadian politics: If you were thinking about running for mayor of a small town in Canada, what would you do? How would you prepare? What kinds of research would you do, and where would you find information to help you prepare effectively and do a better job if you were elected? What would you read or study? What problems would you expect to face? Where can you find information (online) about the basics of the Canadian mayoral and city/village council system?

Both hard info and anecdotes are welcome.

getting back at the mayor

RevengeFilter: Help me get back at my town's corrupt mayor. A few months back a relative of mine, who is a city employee, told me that he had gone to his supervisor to ask for a promotion and had been told, upfront that a promotion would cost him a $5,000.00 donation to the mayor's re-election campaign. I was disgusted but not surprised, as the mayor has been in trouble for influence peddling before. As my relative was not interested in getting involved in any investigation, I've kept the information to myself (ordinarily I'm an unstoppable blabbermouth, but I love my relative and don't want to bring him any grief).
Recently however, to please land developers who are major contributors to the mayor's electioneering campaigns, the mayor has made a decision that will impact the value of my parent's home and possibly have a negative impact on a nearby bird sanctuary.
Here's what I need: how do I drop the dime on the mayor without impacting my relative? Both of the local daily newspapers are in the mayor's pocket, and while the weekly alternative does some good reporting it rarely has much impact. This is, by the way, in the US.

amazing interview with Ray Nagin - where is it?

I am looking for a recording of a recent radio interview with New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin on radio with WWL's Garland Robinette. The interview took place sometime around 6 or 6:30 am UTC (- or roughly a half hour to an hour ago as I am posting this), and is the most amazing thing I've ever heard from a politician. Some quick-on-the-draw person must have recorded it. Nagin pulled absolutely no punches, and the more people who can hear this interview, the better. I woke up and checked out this link for wwl radio, and was bowled over by what I was hearing. The station has already received an online request from one of their interviewees for a copy of the interview, but only said they would be re-running it later. One of our internet peeps must have captured it, though... Can you help find it?
