I will be traveling for a second time to Maui in November. We did a lot of the basic tourist things on the first trip, so I'm looking for interesting ideas for what to do on this second trip. [more inside]
We'll be there in early June, with access to a car, for about a week. Accommodations are sorted, but we'll be free for most of the days. This thread had lots of great recommendations, but I don't want to miss anything. Two adults in average shape, neither of us are SCUBA certified, but we might like snorkeling. Looking online has my head spinning.
I've just booked a trip for three to Maui. We're staying near the Kaanapali Beach, but would like to explore the forests and volcanoes and all the groovy nature stuff. Should I rent a small car to get around, or is there fairly reliable public transport? Renting a car isn't that expensive, but hotel does have parking fees, and I'm not sure how hard it is to find parking around the island.
We are looking for recommendations for a day spa (potentially at a hotel, and preferably on the beach) in Maui, where the purchase of a spa treatment would also include access to the hotel's amenities (pool/sauna/private beach access, etc) at virtually no added cost. [more inside]
I have a few days left here and have not planned ahead at all. I'd love to make it out somewhere though. My rental car can't carry gear, so I need a windsurfing rental shop close enough to a launch point on a good beach that I can carry the board and sail over. It seems like this shouldn't be that hard to find but Google is failing me. [more inside]
We're looking for recommendations for a hotel, resort or villa on the beach at Ka'anapali or near Lahaina that will not just tolerate a service dog but will welcome one. [more inside]
I'm headed to Maui, Maalaea Bay to be precise, next week on Wednesday, and am a little freaked out about this Hurricane situation. I'm looking for recommendations on solid news sources beyond just the weather updates for Maui. Will the grocery stores be re-stocked by Wednesday? Having never been in the vicinity of a hurricane before, are there any post-storm things I should be expecting or is it likely to just be a regular beach vacation?
I'll be traveling to Maui next week and just realized that there will be some closures due to the government shutdown. It looks like Haleakala will be closed - does that just cover visitor centers and bathrooms and such, or will the entire park be physically inaccessible? Any portions of the Road to Hana affected? What else should I be aware of, either on Maui or about air travel in general during this time? Thanks!
Any high-tech work-from-home Maui residents? If you work from home on Maui and absolutely definitely depend on having rock-solid high-speed internet access... where do you live and where would you avoid moving? Is there a single company that offers access? Related question... are power-outages a regular occurrence that would affect location too? mahalo.
We ended up biting the bullet on tickets to Maui for our spring break in March yesterday (arriving 3/10). You guys were awesome when we went to the Big Island last year- where should we stay and what should we do in Maui? [more inside]

We're leaving Maui tomorrow and the flight is at 10.30pm. We got a late checkout (1pm) but what is there to do that can take up huge blocks of time? We've already gone to Hana and up to Haleakala, and would rather not do them again. We're staying in West Maui(Honokawai), but we could drive down to South Maui if it matters. I think we'd prefer to stay off the beach since the wife is a bit sunburned, and the prospects of showers before the flight are limited. We've already looked into getting an extra night, but it doesn't work out with the condo. Any other suggestions are good suggestions.
What part of Maui should we go to for a relaxed, romantic honeymoon? After a fair bit of research, we're thinking of renting a condo, probably on the West side, although even that's not firm. The question is which part of Maui? This thread has us leaning toward Napili or Kihei but since we've never been there before it all feels a bit like a shot in the dark, especially since condo rental sites like VRBO are so huge and confusing. Looking for a awesome Maui Hotel / Resort. I will be in Maui with my wife from June 15 - June 20th. None of the Maui threads make specific recommendations. Looking for a great resort with good food, good spa, and a awesome pool. I don't mind paying a lot for this. Has anyone been to Maui and had a great hotel / resort experience. I would prefer to be in the NW corner of the island, but am not to concerned.

My wife and I are taking our first vacation in years, but we have a 1.5 year old now. We're headed to Hawaii next month and I'm wondering what travel in cabs and buses is like with a baby. Are there small carseats we could travel with or should we suck it up and get a rental car ourselves (and risk the rampant break-ins I constantly hear about)? [more inside]

Going to Hawaii in the start of November for my Honeymoon...9 days I think. I love to Hike and all that fun stuff, my fiance will hike but likes to do lighter things due partially to a heart murmur (she also likes to shop). I get bored just laying on the beach, she has a high stress job so I think she needs some relaxation time. So any suggestions? [more inside]

So it looks like it's going to be Maui, for about 10 days in early January. woot! Advice on lodging would be spectaculariffic. We'd like to split our time roughly evenly between the beaches and the mountains, with the goal of avoiding children and tourist traps. [more inside]
