The Han and Cinema

The Han and Cinema

I am working on a paper on the Korean concept of Han and how Han is
communicated directly or through the use of trope in film and television.

Of particular interest are films and television from East Asia, those
which feature East Asian actors, and those which are set in East Asia.

The definition I am seeking to support or reject is the idea of Han as:
The pain of victims that has festered in their hearts for a long time.

My ideas thus far:
The West Wing (2003) Episode 504 - entitled Han.
The Good Earth (1937) In addition to the plot of the film of interest
is the fact Anna May Wong was passed over for the role of O-Lan and
the pain and woundedness and the sense of "Han" she experienced.
M*A*S*H (1972-1983) set in Korea but not focused on Korea. The Korean people are merely a silent witness in the series, they have no voice.

If you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

I need to identify resources that provide updates on municipal spending habits and intentions, particularly around disaster management scenarios. Specifically, I am researching the market opportunity for mobile hospitals (think MASH-like tents), and so I need to find sources for state, county and local agencies, such as health departments and local emergency managers, that might provide insight into their spending practices, purchasing processes, etc. I'm thinking of things like meetings minutes or prepublished agendas, intents to purchase tents or mobile hospital theaters, etc.

Hot Sauce Mash

I eat a lot of hot sauce, and I have many favorites which I have no trouble finding or buying. But I think it would be good to make my own. How does one do that properly? The problem is that my reading on the Internets leads me to the conclusion that the best hot sauces are made using hot pepper "mash" which has been fermented. I know such mash can be purchased ready to go, but that would sort of completely destroy the idea that it was homemade. I need to ferment my own. I've made beer, so I'm not intimidated by vats of fermenting ickor.

But after spending over an hour googling various permutations of "fermented hot pepper mash homemade sauce" I still have no idea how to make a proper pepper mash suitable for some great homemade hot sauce. Some sites indicate something very much like pickling, some suggest following the same process as sauerkraut, some suggest a beer-like fermentation. Recipes are all over the map.

Has anyone done this? Fermented their own chilis for hot sauce? What is the best technique?

1st person Persective Film

Remember that MASH episode that was entirely filmed from the perspective of the wounded soldier? He couldn't talk, but he could nod, and when he nodded the camera would nod, like you were looking out his eyes. I'm wondering if there have been any films created from a 1st person perspective. As a bonus question, how hard would it be to create this effect? I can see the tip of my nose, blurily - would one put that in digitally? how about perepheral vision?

Why MASH theme different for s1e20-22?

Why is there a different theme arrangement/recording only for episodes 20, 21 and 22 in M*A*S*H season 1? I've been watching the first season of M*A*S*H, and came across this oddity -- only on episodes 20, 21 and 22, is a different version of the widely recognizable "Suicide Is Painless" instrumental played in the intro while the rest are the usual version.
