We have a great relationship. For lots of reasons, it would make sense for us to get married in the near future. But she wants kids, and I'm not sure I do, or ever will. Would getting married be a bad idea, particularly if the likely alternative is to break up? [more inside]
Was it typical/usual/done at all for immigrants to the US (20th century, pre-WWI) to marry in the United States even if they had previously married in their country of origin? [more inside]
My boyfriend and I have been together for close to 9 years. I've been offered a GREAT job in the US - the only way he could work there, it seems, would be to get married. Problem: we both really never thought of getting married - and it's 100% not romantic. [more inside]
I am writing to humbly plead for your assistance as a victim of immigration fraud, advice and/or professional contacts anyone might have regarding my situation. My husband married me, got his greencard in mail and promptly fled, refusing to grant me an annulment. [more inside]
Immigration Calibration: if the love-of-his-life returns to the Phillipines, will he ever see her again? Or rather, give me a general sense of how easy it would be for her to get another tourist visa to US; get visa to travel here for wedding, live here after marriage. [more inside]
I, a U.S. citizen, married a foreign national some time ago and helped her obtain conditional permanent resident status as a result of the marriage. I subsequently discovered that she had no intent of engaging in a legitimate marital relationship with me and, instead, had married me for the sole purpose of becoming a permanent resident of the United States. Upon this discovery, I filed for an annulment but was instead granted a divorce (details inside). My immigrant ex-wife will soon need to apply (via the I-751 process) to convert her "conditional" permanent resident status to "true" permanent resident status if she wishes to remain in the United States legally (which she does). I do not know whether she will be granted this status, but I would like to find out whether or not she does attain it. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might find this out? [more inside]
I'm a dude going to marry a dude in New York State. Said dude I am going to marry is a resident alien from the UK. Will the UK recognize the marriage? Does he become an American Citizen by marrying him? Does that counteract his UK citizenship? What are my rights, here?

I am a US citizen. My fiance is a UK citizen. We want to live in the US. In fact, we already own a home together, and he is making trips back and forth. We don't want to wait the 6+ months it will take for a K-1 visa to be approved before we get married. Can we legally marry while he is here on a tourist visa? If we do, does he have to return to the UK if we file for a change of status? What problems might this cause with immigration?

A friend is considering participating in a paper-marriage-for-money to permit a stranger to remain in the U.S. The amount of money in question is not trivial and said friend is quite excited. I'm inclined to object, but need better grounds. What are the practical, legal, and philosophical issues involved in this? Any real-life stories?
I am an American citizen; my fiance is a British citizen. He is here in America right now as a tourist and will return to Britain in about 10 days. I'm sure I want to marry him and he's sure he wants to live here. Would it be better to marry him now and have him immigrate as a spouse (K3 or CR1?), or to bring him in on a K1 fiance visa?
