I like smoking pot, and it's often very useful when I'm working, in that it helps me to focus and brainstorm and problem-solve. But I recently cut it out of my daily routine, and for the most part I'm happy to be without it right now...but I do wish to have a little puff once a week. I miss the brainstorms! The problem is, now every time I do smoke, the whole next day I feel way unmotivated and unfocused. Someone suggested more-rigorous exercise the next morning might help, because it burns off the fat molecules...is that total crap? Help me keep the brainstorms without losing my luster the next day!

Friend in trouble: bipolar, taking Zoloft, smoking huge amount of marijuana which exacerbates his mania. He's acting crazy. I'm far away -- how can I help? I have a friend who has served time for several DUI's, and is currently on parole. He is worried about failing a drug test, and being sent back to the slammer to complete his sentence. Are there any MeFis out there that have been on parole, failed a test for marijuana, and not been sent back to jail?

Should I be concerned about my emails and letters to my US Senate and House representatives ? I have written to my Maryland federal representatives expressing my opinion on the War on Drugs and support for legalization (marijuana) and decriminilzation (all other "illegal" drugs). I have listed my address as to not be a crackpot when I sent the email. With this issue spiraling out of control - how concerned should I be that I am now going to be on some list somewhere for thinking for myself? I know I am asking this after sending but I was just curious to see what everyone else thought.

I've been trying to find some info on soaking marijuana in alcohol, specifically to determine what the effects would be in drinking such a mixture. Everything I've found so far, suggests that a marijuana/alcohol mixture makes a good tincture for presumedly medicinal purposes. There is also a vodka beverage infused with marijuana seeds that is supposed to be quite terrible. Alcohol is said to be good for extracting THC and I've seen some sources suggest using it to make hash.
Just for fun, I've put about an ounce of chopped bud into a bottle and filled it with rum. But before I drink it, I'd kinda like to know something about dosage and strength. So anyone out there ever try this before?

Marijuana is said to have the potential for psychological addiction. I just started using it, and I'm hyper-paranoid about such things (even when not high!), so I'm wondering about this. Has anyone here struggled with this? How do you tell the difference between "psychological addiction", and just wanting to do something fun, because it's fun? Is psychological addiction a bunch of anti-drug scaremongering? How do you tell if you're starting to become addicted?

If police found a container that to them obviously contained drugs (but there were no drugs in it, except for maybe a small coating of dust in the case of cocaine, or a few flakes of marijuana), could they charge you with anything? (The container in this instance would be a baggie or a box, nothing that is explicity "drug paraphanalia.")

How can I get my mom to start smoking pot?
A few years ago my mother was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, a chronic and very painful disease. I've thought a number of times that marijuana would be able to help soothe her muscle pain. After researching it, I found a lot of people with fibro do smoke and it helps tremendously. She's rather religious and not really open to new ideas. She's very into herbal solutions, but I know she'd turn down this particular herbal solution because of the hype of anti-drug commercials and its legal status in the US. Is there any way I can approach the subject which may convince her to at least try it? I want my mom to feel somewhat normal again and I believe this may be able to positively change her life.

Giving up smoking. I've been moderately successful in quitting tobacco. But I have a real problem with cannabis. Several times, I've quit the cigarettes for 6 months only to be scuppered when someone offers me a joint, and soon I'm back smoking cigarettes again. I've tried pipes of pure dope (not satisfying and too quick), I've tried eating it (great fun but needs to be done ~2hrs in advance), I've tried "herbal smoking mixtures" (taste like bonfires, don't burn well). But nothing comes close to that nicotine fuelled joint experience. So am I really going to have to turn down every joint for the rest of my life?
