It's enough to say that I wasn't adapted well to being on my own; that, combined with the stress of a new job, a language barrier, and a few health problems that chipped away at my self-esteem, led me to take comfort in marijuana, on and off, for ten years. I started smoking marijuana a couple of months ago, primarily to help with pain from nerve damage. From the first time, I loved smoking it. It set well with me, producing a very mellow high that took away my pain and allowed me to sleep. But that's all changed.

I smoked half a joint yesterday and had some horrible reactions. I am not a daily or weekly smoker. I tend to go years with out smoking but recently started doing it a couple times a month. I never take more than a few tokes. I get really lazy, a little silly, and a little munchy. I go from feeling very dry and then back to normal (mouth).

A tale of woe: I was walking in the woods and came upon a solitary cultivated plant which appeared to be marijuana by the shape of it's leaves. Sometimes when I smoke marijuana, my short-term memory remains nuked for 1-2 days after I smoke. This symptom doesn't seem to be correlated with the amount of marijuana smoked, and does not reliably happen when I smoke the same marijuana twice (i.e., it's not bad/different weed that causes it). It usually happens when I drink moderate amounts of alcohol in addition to smoking, but not always. Does this happen to other people? Is this harmful? Is it possible to counteract this effect? Does this mean I should completely stop smoking marijuana?

I'm looking for weed-related songs to listen to. I'm thinking along the lines of Ben Harper's "Burn One Down", Tom Petty's "Last Dance With Maryjane" or Sublime's "Smoke Two Joints". I'm not sure whether this topic is a comfortable or appropriate one for us to discuss and I hope I'm not commiting a faux-pas by asking, but here goes:
I've noticed that a lot of my friends who used to smoke and enjoy marijuana stopped doing so in their early thirties. I've asked them why they stopped and they have said it just doesn't make them feel good anymore. It seems to stop making them feel relaxed and start making them more nervous and paranoid. What are some possible reasons for this?
